Terrible impact to the Planet

In response to review, SimonCommunity says ...

All major cruise lines are committed to the environment and recycle un-purchased photos and paper waste from the ship. Crew members handle this out of passenger view. Many other steps - many not seen by passengers - are also taken to minimize the environmental footprint of a cruise ship. Carnival (and most of the other lines) publish sustainability reports each year.

Wow... I'm not sure what you expected or how much research you did with regard to the environmental impact of cruising. As Simon noted above, all of the mainstream cruise lines are firmly committed to environmental protection. Just because you could not see it doesn't mean it isn't happening.

In thinking about this a bit more, I do not go on vacation to worry about where the closest recycle bin is located. I don't mean that to sound sarcastic, but it is a fact. Please take some time to learn more about the cruise line's process of trash collection, sorting, and processing. I know I sleep just fine at night knowing that the efforts made by cruise lines to be as efficient and effective with environmental protection measures. While it may not be perfect (to everyone's expectation), they do a heck of a lot better than many other vacation-related sectors.

As for the remainder of your review, a one star rating isn't justified by the sparse information provided. It is unfortunate that the ship / experience did not measure up for you. Cruising isn't for everyone.

A few questions to the poster.

1. Do you eat at restaurants on land ? Ever been to a land based all you can eat buffet? Do you tell people to eat all that they ordered ? Did you know that the cruise industry cut back on waste by stopping the midnight buffet ?

2. Did you go bellow decks to see the amount of recycling that ships do ? Did you know they do more then land based business ? All trash on a cruise ship is separated and compacted for recycling or to be incinerated

3. Didn't you do research before you booked a cruise ?

As stated above your review is not fair. I'm sure service was good, I'm sure your cabin was clean and i'm sure the food was good yet you ignore all of that and focus in on small issues that bothered you even if you did not know how things work on a ship. How unfair to all the hard working crew that did all they could to try and give you a great vacation.

Some people will never be satisfied regardless of what is given them. Normally I hate it when someone slams the OP for a review, however this time I believe it is warranted.

Yes, there is food waste, however I would be willing to bet that it is much less than any land restaurant. As far as the paper waste, all paper is recycled.

Apparently the only way to satisfy the OP would be if mankind were to totally disappear off the face of the Earth -- an option I will not entertain.

To Osirismckinney,

Maybe this is a good thing for you to have this experience with cruising, Looking at the duration and routing for the cruise, at least it did not cost you too much. For some people cruising is not a good match, and this appears to be the case with you. You seem to be hyper critical of the cruise line and ship. But, How was the experience with the staff and the stops you made on the trip. That should also be added to the reviews.

Good luck with future vacations, I hope that they rise to your expected standard.
