Good review considering it was your first cruise Patty! I would just like to point out a couple of things to keep in mind for your next cruise. First, don't give up on Carnival. I've sailed with them 5 out of my last 10 cruises and even though there could be staff issues on a few, I never had a bad cruise. The drink package you mentioned, I know that the issue is not just related to Carnival. Royal Caribbean has the same procedure. I wanted to buy a package on our first RCCL cruise and was told we both had to buy one. My wife has never drank in the 25 years I have known her...she's just not interested. If your cabin steward kept you cabin clean, he's good. Just because you never met him (or her) should be of no issue. Next time in Cozumel, go to Paradise beach and get away from the markets at the port.

Glad you enjoyed your first cruise. Nothing in life is perfect and some of the things you were not happy with are common to Cruise lines across the board.
You never met your cabin steward yet your room got a good review. Your cabin steward turned down your beds at night and made them each morning, cleaned your cabin and bathroom and kept you in clean towels.
Putting your bag out the last night of a cruise is very typical. I always take a carry on bag with me for toiletries, rx and room for things I need to keep the last night of cruise.
Most cruise lines make all people in a cabin buy the same drink package so no sharing. Carnival limits drink packages at 15 a day I think and it is 5 drinks a day to break even.
I have found the food on Carnival to be better then RCCL and NCL for the free dining room. For free, the Deli is good, the Burrito bar was great, Pizza was good, Omelet bar was great and buffet was hit and miss. Try the steak house it is $ 35.00 each and well worth it.
Carnival does let you hang out in the Lido until your called to get off the ship so you can have a nice breakfast on the last morning.
I'm obsessed with Guys !

LOL Guys burgers or Guys as in men?? Sorry that comment struck me funny, so I just had to ask.
Well, now that you have cruised once, you have a better idea of what to expect. The drink packages are all the same I believe for all cruise lines regarding the people in the stateroom. Unless you get the whole package as a perk it will cost.
On your next cruise you will have a better experience due to this site as well as what you went through. Let us know when you book again.
I know for Royal the rule does not apply that if one person gets a package, the other has to as well.
Cruising is a game of test. Try out what you like... No Mexico, so try the virgin islands. try another line. It is all what you are looking for and need in your vacation.
Princess is another line that doesn't require everyone to get the drink package.
Now that you have had your first cruise to learn the intricacies, where are you going next?
