A lesson learned here about the importance of purchasing cruise/travel insurance. If you had the insurance, you could have cancelled the cruise (by securing a doctors note) and filing a claim for which you would have been reimbursed 100%. You could have used that refund to book your next cruise for after you fully recover. You need to understand that as unfortunate that your accident was, it was too late for the cruise line to accommodate you with a wheelchair accessible cabin as there are few on the ships and they were already probably booked 1 week prior to your sail date. Your having an uncomfortable experience with the bed, access to the bathroom,  not being able to use the balcony and not being able to fully experience your excursions is of no fault of the cruise line.  I think that the positive note here is that the crew did all they could to accommodate you in other areas. I hope you recover quickly and are feeling better soon.

Thank you for posting your review.  Our experience has been such that handicapped rooms are booked way in advance so if we really want to have an accessible cabin, we need to commit early. Because your unfortunate injury was just before the trip, I am not surprised the line could not accommodate a change. As mentioned by CrusinTim, trip insurance is something we purchase regularly in case we need to cancel, especially due to medical reasons.

Sorry to hear that. We sailed the Sunshine in February and loved it.  Lots to do and they had a fantastic staff. We still FB with our headwaiter Trinidad. We saw our old Dining hostess Martya last week when we were on the Paradise. I hope you have a better time next cruise.

So sorry to hear of your back injury.  As stated above travel insurance is a must have as we get older or as our travel companions get older.   I have used travel insurance a few times through the years and found it very easy to make a claim with a doctors note.  One trip I got the flu the day before the cruise and with a doctors note I got a full refund,  there was no way I would have been allowed on an air plane or a ship the way I looked and with the fever I was running.
