Carnival Loosens Restrictions on Bringing Non-Alcohol Beverages Onboard While in Ports of Call

According to Cruise Radio:

Guests on Carnival Cruise Line will be happy the next time they try to bring non-alcoholic beverages aboard while in port. Up until recently, though loosely enforced, guests were not allowed to bring beverages back onboard from port. While the no bottle policy still remains in effect, guests can now bring cans or cartons on board. […]

I cannot really see any problem here. Whilst only cruised on NCL, they have no issue with non-alcoholic beverages being brought on board, including water.The main issue I guess is the carrying it on with your hand baggage and lugging it around. They are of course very strict on alcoholic drinks being brought on board.

I never buy soft drinks in port and bring them back on board but lots of other passengers do, I know.  This will not affect me in the least.  I guess the cruise lines do not make money on soft drinks.

I think that Carnival really just wants to restrict the smuggling of alcohol onboard in water bottles.  Cans and cartons cannot be tampered.
