Worst Experience of My Life

In response to review, CrusinTim says ...

WOW!!! You sound like a BLAST to cruise with (which is probably why you sailed alone). Another member posted 5 stars for the SAME sailing you were on. Let's hit a couple of points... "There was no indication to the age group going on the trip with me.". A little research pre-cruise would have enlightened you about this fact (which never concerned me when booking a cruise) but I digress. You state your INSIDE cabin was the "cabin of doom". UM, you booked an INSIDE CABIN, what did you expect?  You paid $300 for a massage? Man, they saw YOU coming!!! Using the terms "dick" and "turd" in your review just show your intelligence level. Next time, try a bus trip to Albany N.Y.....sounds more your speed!!

I trust that you will cruise again. Before you do, please contact a reputable travel agent. Have them contact the cruise line "anyone will do"  and check the traditional demographics for the ship and the style of cruise.  Please explain to the agent exactly what you are looking for and what your expectations are. In the case of the first cruise you mention, you did not have a clear definition of the style of cruise that you expected. Carnival cruise lines are very affordable and by your choice of an inside cabin for your first cruise, show that maybe you should have looked into an ocean view or balcony. We now book only inside cabins as we do not spend a great deal of time in our cabin. But we did have an oceanview on our first cruise.

Please reconsider cruising, however, please do your homework.

Good luck.

Look on the bright side of things,  now you know where to go (when how did you describe your ship mates) your part of the  "obese elderly population " and you want to enjoy food other then "Healthy options" ( I guess there was no salad or fresh fruit in the buffet)  and can drink something other then sangria.

Maybe you would have a girl friend and would not be alone if you were not so judgmental of others and could learn to get along with them.

I have cruised Carnival a few times and have found them to have a diverse age rang and socioeconomic passenger list.  I have found that they have activities going on all of the time so that if you do not like Bingo,  other activities will be going on at the same time.

now the questions...........

1.  If you were traveling alone,  why didn't you pick assigned seating ?  Carnival tries to put all the single travelers at the same table.   Did you try the Piano bar where lots of singles hang out ?    Did you go to the singles mixer ?   You may have met a new friend.I have cruised alone and met people to hang out with on the ship and on shore excursions.

2.  Your cabin "welcome to your closet of doom" didn't you look on line to see what an Inside cabin was?   The web page shows the layout and photo's of the different cabin types.  I like inside cabins for short trips,  all I do is sleep and shower in the cabin and do not need to pay more for a window or balcony that I will not use much.

3. Food,   You can go the Lido and get Salad, fresh fruit and some form of lean protein at lunch and dinner if you like Rabbit food.

4. Your destinations,  didn't you do an research on line about where your going ?  Not all countries are as well to do as the USA.  When you travel to 2nd and 3rd world places you should expect to see things that you do not in the USA.

I'm sorry you did not have a good Cruise but I think the blames is on you for not researching your trip before you went.  If you did research and read reviews of Carnival you will see it called "The floating Walmart", that cabins are sparse and the type of food offered.

I have Cruised with lines from Carnival to Celebrity,  the cruise line and the ship will make a difference of the experience you have.  I can enjoy the elegance of Celebrity's formal night in European sailing with people dressed up to the casual fun of Carnival. I also know what type of trip I'm booking and where to set my expectation.  Also I do not let things ruin my trip,  it is my vacation and I'm going to have fun and relax.
