Nice review and these conditions can be found on any cruise vessel. I recommend looking at the complete deck plans of a ship before booking to see what's above and below a cabin you may like can help to avoid these issues. I also agree with your tip on Belize. I have found that port useless unless your a diver or book an excursion, it's not worth leaving the ship there. 30 minutes to board the tender then a 30 minute ride on the tender to the port where there is really nothing more than a flea market is useless. We have already decided to stay aboard the ship if we ever cruise where Belize is a port of call!!

Yes location of your cabin i most important. When we were in Belize, we were told not to wander off by ourselves. I took as ship excursion.

I always look to see location of cabin in reference to any venue.  Little research will save some head aches next cruise.  Hope your next cruise the cabin is better.

We also check the deck plans when choosing a room so that we know if it's going to be in a quieter area or not.

In Belize we took a cave tubing excursion and loved  it, but we would never consider wandering outside of the port area or going on a private excursion.
