CARNIVAL CRUISE CUT SHORT-NOROVIRUS

Hot off the press..OASIS OF THE SEAS- art least 277 sick...returning to Miami from Jamaica...  Im sure you can find a whole bunch more, heard it on the radio in the car 20 min ago. Got in and accessed a bunch of comments from the passengers on one of the news channels...They didn't like the cruise being cut short, they didn't like being confined to their cabins...etc etc..not much to like about that cruise I guess....sad....

Pssst ... Anything of the Seas is not Carnival Wink ..... That would be a Royal faux pas

You are absolutely correct ...mea culpa….I'll try again....

I received, from another source, a post about that. I'm not sure if it is true. It seems they cut a full day off the cruise and will credit the cruise back to the passengers.

I makes one wonder about the turnaround time being so short for the cruise lines that maybe, just maybe, the overall cleanliness may not be what it could be. Blaming the passengers as often as they do, I think, is only a portion of the issue.

I see your point, but I don't think I agree. Being a night owl, I have roamed the ship at some fairly odd hours and noticed that the crew are engaged in some heavy-duty cleaning throughout the ship in the very early AM. While I do not believe they do a 100% sanitizing on a daily basis (as they do when a ship returns to port after a case such as this), I do believe that the ship is completely sanitized over the period of a week.

If someone got on board with the early stages of Noro (having gotten it from school, the mall, etc), I can see how it could spread to 250 other passengers (out of 6000 on board). I do not believe that a full sanitizing of the ship prior to this cruise boarding would have changed anything. (although staff serving at the buffet rather than the passengers helping themselves might have helped).

I don't disagree with you. I too have walked the ship and have seen the cleaning crews going full bore. But just cleaning and sanitizing doesn't solve the problem.

Just like when we clean our homes, even the cleanest homes can get some infestation issues. Yes, passengers who are ill, food handling issues, maybe something spoiled in the kitchen. All can contribute.

Have you ever opened a container in your fridge? You know what I mean.

I can remember in the old days when they would shampoo the carpets in the cabins between cruises.

OAS is RCI ship. Not Carnival..... This title is wrong and should be changed,

Yes I got that part already, see above and another thread...so change it if it bothers you. Apparently it didn't bother other folks who posted to it. Including 2 other mods. Mebbe you should have a committee meeting.

I just do not believe in misinformation on a information site. I do not need a committee to have an opinion of what is wrong.
