Carnival announces a "Child Menu" at the Steak House

In John Heald's Blog he mentions that Carnival is going to be starting a "Child Menu" in the Steak House for $ 10.00 for kids.

I myself look forward to going to the Steak House for a nice quiet dinner with no kids in the dining room.  That is part of the attraction of the Steak House,  great food,  elegant setting and quiet.  Even Disney has adult only venues in its ships,  why can't Carnival ?

If children must be allowed into the Steak House why not have one or two nights a week when its the "Family Steak House" and the other 5 nights when it is Adults only ?  A large portion of cruisers are young Pre-children couples and mature post-children couples that enjoy a quiet dinner with out kids around.

What do the rest of your think ?

We've been discussing it all week on Facebook. Lots of strong opinions, to be sure!

I don't mind as long as the child is behaving. Some kids can be around and you would never know it. But the others are way out of hand.

Personally, It would turn me away from going there if it was kid friendly. Im with JusMe on this one... I would go for peace and quiet, and no kids.....If they have a night or two that are family friendly, thats fine... At least I know when to avoid the restaurant on that day(s)

I would agree with meghad23 and JusMe, I would not like children in the Steak House. You cant guarantee that all parents would have good kids.

Will they be charging market price ? Do Carnival chefs even know how to cook a child ?

I don't know, when I was growing up, there were no chicken fingers etc...we ate grown up food just in smaller portions and anything that needed to be cut up was cut up really good for us. When you see kid menus its always the same foods. Like children cant eat real food.

I see what you did there... lolWink

LOL $10 per child so they can eat chicken nuggets and mac and cheese. I have children but if it was designated as adult only, I certainly would not winge and moan if I couldn't go because I had the wee ones.

Yes some children do eat real food but how many want to eat brocolli and good stuff when the buffets are filled with more interesting foods.

BAK - I'm sure the chefs can cook them, but can they cook them well? I heard they require a Chianti based sauce...

Of course you have to have the fava bean casserole for the side dish.

Seriously - charging a 5 star price for a 2 star family restaurant? No thanks.

So far Monique and I have been lucky that there are not too many kids on the cruise we have been on. If there were they were quite behaved. But I don't know about special prices for kids portions in adult restaurants. I know that some of these kids eat larger portions than I do... Just watch my grandson eat.......Big Smile
