Cancelled Port

I just received a letter from NCL stating that they cancelled a port on or cruise that is due in Oct. They stated that the port missed will now be a Sea Day. Discount??

BAK the blame does lie with them as they are doing port renos. They have obviously known for quite some time that this Port was going to be under renos. The issue I have with the whole thing is not that they have cancelled the Port per say but more over that they do not offer compensation. You pay 100% percent of the cost for 100% of the cruise, then they take away 33% but still maintain 100% of the cost.

NCL does not see you as people, they see you as money, as do most companies. Whatever happened to customers come first, the customer is always right, etc. Apparently the almighty dollar trumps those antiquated rules of business.

Sadly, because of their lack of care and unwillingness to make a gesture of good business, my wife and I have cancelled our trip.

I called 3 times yesterday and spoke further up the corporate chain with all the same response. This will be the last NCL cruise I ever try to book. Shame on them!

Which port was cancelled ? Did they give a reason ? Obviously it's not weather related. It may have more to do with, port renovation / expansion. So to everyone that blamed NCL, maybe the blame doesn't lie with them.

just sayin

This is why NCL is at the bottom of my list, after they have your $$$ they do not care. I had booked one type of cabin lay out and they gave us a different lay out and said "The ship is full, this is the cabin you will get". My TA called them while still in port and they told him the same thing, that is the cabin we will have even though we booked different cabin and they had assured the TA at booking we would get what we requested. No OBC not even dinner at the steak house.

You are at the whim of NCL..............all I can say is go and have a great time. Don't let this one thing ruin your trip. If the canceled port is a private island, then no port fees to refund.

It would be wise to follow up on the phone number. Even if they give an OBC or a Spa day, it would make feeling better. Let us know how it works out.

Although it is specifically mentioned in the contract, I agree with the OP that it is simply bad business to simply cancel 33% of the port of calls, with plenty of notice, without offering replacement ports or modification of the fares, whether already paid or not.

Sadly we already have our flights booked and paid for as we are from Canada. We left one cruise line for NCL as they did this to us before without any compensation. I have reached out to their sales line for compensation and they say nothing is being offered and tough about your luck as it is stated in your contract. She did however, provide me with their head office # which I will be a constant thorn in their side because this is not right. You offer 3 ports of call based at 1 specific rate. You drop one port without an alternate, but that rate you paid stays the same. Where I come from, when you do not get what you pay for, it is thievery!

Sorry to hear that. It can be disappointing when that happens but at least you are being given lots of notice. You can always reach out to the cruise line and inquire about a possible on board credit in lieu of but unless you really push it chances are it may not fly. The ultimate decision is up to you whether the cruise is still worthwhile ports vs price and you fortunately still have lots of time to cancel if that is your wish. I guess a good indicator may whether the cruise line has dropped the current prices for unsold cabins.
