Cabin Upgrades

We hear about -- and maybe have been offered -- a free cabin upgrade or a nominal charge upgrade. From you experiences, have you found these upgraded cabins to be a good perk, or wished you would have stayed in your original cabin?

I have been offered a mini-suite for $99 but chose to stay in my balcony of choice.

I sure there are good and bad stories. Let's hear them!

On the Crown Princess I had booked an interior room and I was offered an upgrade to balcony for $100. It was my first time in a balcony room and I liked it very much.

Once I had a Lido Deck balcony and was offered an obstructed oceanviewSad

(I took it, with the accompanying 50% refundHappy)

50% refund - WOW! I do not think I could turn that down either.

Took an upgrade from all balcony to a suite for $500. I loved it. Felt like I was better than the lower class of people. Kidding. This was on Valor. I did like it. A lot of space and enjoyed being there plus the perks. I won't book one out right though. Kinda expensive

I would love to get an upgrade/upsell to a full suite, but the stars haven't aligned yet.

I have no clue why I got the call. Just got home from work one day and CCL called and asked me. I was given no time to think about it cause she would have moved on. I made sure to ask all the questions about not ripping me off. There was no extra dollars. A flat $500 with priority boardings on and off and tender.. Never had one before so I said let's go for it. If I booked it out right I calculated the cost was about a grand more for a suite.

We were offered a bigger balcony that, but found it more crowded as it had a ladder for the upper bunk that took up space and the headboard was at a weird angle. It was a free upgrade so no reason to complain. We got an upgrade to a suite at no cost once and loved it. We try to have an idea about the costs of upgrade just in case we get a call... then we know if it is a bargain or not. So some of them are worth it.
