Must be an Aussi thing. No offence to anyone from Oz but .. man .. that is crazy .. like chill man .. your on a cruise .. relax and enjoy. But then again that is some peoples take on enjoying themselves. Glad I was not there.
What a shame, that's the second "brawl" on a ship I've read about in the last 2 weeks or so, and I think they were both Carnival ships (let me be clear, I love cruising with Carnival and am not placing blame with the company) just remarking on the coincidence.
If we’re thinking of the same thing, the one last week was on a P&O ship (who are part of Carnival Corp). What I find interesting is that both of theses incidents were on ships sailing roundtrip from Australian ports and entirely involved Australian passengers. Certainly won’t keep me from visiting Australia or taking cruises, just an observation.
If we have any Australian members on the Forum, I’d be interested to know if the media is reporting anything more or even covering the stories at all.
I saw this and decided now Carnival will get the reputation of the "fighting" ship not the "party" ship. (All the ships seem to get painted with the same moniker). Or maybe it's just Australia?
I hope not, but a few bad apples can ruin the bushel.
I saw that and couldn't believe my eyes... people find all kinds of ways to ruin a great time for others....they didn't even care about anyone's safety !!!!
Me too and I pray I never have to witness something like that on any cruise or any vacation for that matter.
After reading all the reports and stories from this I seriously question whether the captain and crew responded as they should have and in their defense whether they were trained or people experienced enough to properly handle this. Apparently this was something that had been going on and brewing for days with many scared passengers. Some reports are from passengers that said the captains response before the big melee was "what do you want me to do about it, throw them overboard?" Umm wait a minute, is this not why a ship has a brig? Why were hooligans allowed to prowl and terrorize a ship and its passengers at will? Might as well just let a group of terrorists on board and tell them have at it. At least P&O had the smarts to return to port and deal with it.
On the news tonight I saw that Carnival is offering passengers of this cruise 25% off of a future cruise. I hate to say but IMHO the more I learn of what went on the more I think they should offer a free cruise to guest of this cruise.

Offering that little makes me wonder if the Carnival “beards”really understand how many guests may choose not to sail with their line after witnessing this type of behaviour. A free cruise would definitely be a show of good faith on their part.

They should have gotten the boot during the first big altercation. There should never have been days of this stuff going on. People get kicked off for less all the time. I see absolutely no reason why they should have gotten multiple chances.
I need a new cruise line
