Best Cruise Experience

When I read reviews I hear a lot of negative comments.  How about telling us about the best cruise experience that you had.  Which ship were you on and where were you headed?

For me it was a cruise on HAL ms Amsterdam for the 2014  Grand Pacific and Far East Voyage.  Not only were the destinations exotic but the shore excursions were awesome.  The ship itself was comfortable, the crew were hand picked and so attentive.  The entertainment was good and there were so many extra gifts that HAL gave us all a sturdy roll along bag to carry everything home.  What a trip!. It was 78 days long and we loved every minute.  This was not just a longer cruise, it had so many lovely extras that it was well worth the cost.    In fact we are doing a World Voyage next year. on HAL

I would say my best cruise experience was on a 30 day Tahiti cruise on Hollands Westerdam. We found a Solo guitarist Chris Bartlett playing in the crows nest and really enjoyed him. Tahiti was beautiful and the staff on the Westerdam from the Captain on down were just fantastic.we loved it all and could not believe it ended so soon.

My best was a transatlantic on the Celebrity Equinox.  The ship was beautiful,  service was great,  food in the MDR was excellent, no need or any extra charge dining.  We had  great dining room service.  They had 2 guest lecturers on board one giving a series of talks on the rise and fall of the German U-boats during WWII and the other giving the history of great ships.  The glass blowing show is also interesting. We had good weather all the trip, good ports to stop in and I loved the long period of days at sea.

When I booked I did not know,  but cabins on the angle of the ship have extra large balcony's,  ours was large enough for two loungers and a table.   We used it to lay out and sun.

It was fun to get up early on a sea day to be awake to sail though the straights of Gibraltar and during dinner one night we sailed through  with Italy on one side and Sicily on the other side.

The trip was also great because we did a few weeks in Rome before the trip and some time in Florida after the trip.   So much nicer to sail back home with a hour time change a day so no jet lag.

2010. Holland America. Veendam to Bermuda.  We redid our vows. In addition, there were some rough waters over by King's Wharf, so the ship docked for three days right in Hamilton.  Perfect for Wednesday nights market / fair on Front Street

My friend and I did a Panama Canal cruise on the Serenade of the Seas. Everyone on the ship, passengers and crew alike, seemed more friendly than what we had previously experienced. We loved the ship. The icing on the cake was getting a center hump balcony.
