Balcony vs porthole?

Balcony vs porthole? Is it worth $1,200.00 to have a room with a view?

uh...... Balcony. There are others that will select a pothole and other will say balcony. Its what's your preference is for you to enjoy your cruise.

A lot of it will depend on the length of the cruise and the itinerary. If cruising through cold waters in cold temps a balcony may not be used a lot but if in warmer climates then there is a greater chance to use it. Also need to consider whether you spend much time in your cabin or not. And after weighing in all those the budget is always the king.

There is no way I'm paying for a pothole on any cruise Big Smile

We just booked our first porthole cabin on Paradise. We've had balconies and ocean view, but never an interior. I don't think I could stand no natural light at all. We really don't use the balconies that much, so we have gone back to booking ocean views in order to cruise more often and be able to take the family with us when they can come.

Granny, the porthole doesn't open.

If you want a pothole, come to NY. We have any size your car can handle. And many that will make you and your car just, disappear.

For me personally, yes... a room with a view is essential. When possible a suite as I love the space... but not everyone does. We have friends that like interior cabins with no "window" because the are light sensitive and cannot sleep once the sun is up.

Thank you for the insightful response to my query. What you say makes a lot of sense. We are sailing on the Baltic Sea which is quite northerly. Very long days in July. I expect it will be rather cool on the water. I am not sure it is a good idea to pay a $1,200.00 premium for a balcony stateroom on this cruise. Thanks again.

It looks like you have thought about this and made a very logical decision that fits best for you! Welcome to the forum.Happy
