Bad reviews because of weather or TA issues

I have been noticing bad reviews for things that the cruise line has no control over like bad weather or bad service from travel agents.   In my opinion this is not fair to all the hard working crew of the ship.   Bad food,  Bad service on the ship,  bad smells in the cabin,  toilets or drains backing up, A/C not working,  bad cabin steward,  bad bar service or bad entertainment,  OK then downgrade the ship......but Weather and TA are not part of the cruise.

A lot of passengers (particularly new cruisers) treat every part of the cruise from first telephone booking to returning home as ALL part of the cruise and will find any element to complain about. There are certainly more comments about things that go wrong as opposed to good things found on a cruise

We all, by nature, will complain or mention the bad things that happen. We all do that at the water cooler on Monday morning. Seldom do we go out of our way to thank a person or a company for their good service. Not just on cruises folks. Have you gone up the  manager at the grocery store and complemented on of his staff? Have you called the restaurant manager over and passed on the chef a compliment? Or even sent a letter to head offices with glowing reports of service from their employees. I do on a regular basis. I love the reaction.

It is so easy to pursue a negative on this and other sites, because , face it folks, we like to complain about anything and share our negative feelings---sort of get them out through talking about it.

Now for me I will never have any problem with my TA--- he is great and as far as the weather is concerned.... I'm on Holidays , I'm on a cruise, I'm in the tropics....and  it's not snowing... I'm good.Big Smile

I think people tend to rate their vacation rather than the cruiseline.

it's the "I paid my money and I want perfect" mentality.

I always try and give a balanced review,  if there is bad things I do list them but I also list the good things.  I try and give examples so the review is credible.   In one of my reviews I gave 4 stars, I stated that it would have been 5 stars except for bad MDR service and what was bad in the MDR.  People need to back up reviews with WHY things were bad and stick to just the cruse portion.

Totally agree.  They complain about having so much rain, but then you find out they booked  a September cruise.  The term Hurricane Season, is totally foreign to them.  Then they blame the TA or PVP for not telling them about that little weather anomaly.  It's always someone else's fault.

We have a September cruise booked . I hope there is no hurricane on that trip.Happy

Sometimes you bite the bear, sometimes the bear bites you.

Some days you're the dog. Other days you're the hydrant.

regardless, better to be wet on a , ship than be dry at home.

Is that a Chairman Mao statement?Happy

Nope. The first is a construction statement. The second is on a t-shirt I own.  They both imply you have good days and bad days.
