Back from the cruise that almost didn't happen

Well, our 10-21-17 cruise on RCCL Adventure of the Seas went off without a hitch.

Our flights into and out of San Juan were on time and all my nightmares were for

naught Big Smile

We loved the ship!!  RCCL and Carnival seem to us to have more similiarities than differences.

Food:  Variety better on Carnival, particularly on the buffet.   RCCL room service wins hands down.  Continental breakfast with basically  the same choices as Carnival is still free.  For $7.95 per ORDER (that  includes  as much food as you want for everyone in cabin), RCCL has much better hot breakfast and sandwich selections, as well as fries and pizza, and similar dessert choices as Carnival.

Service on RCCL was like it was when we first started with Carnival.  Twice a day without asking.  Stewards don't seem so overworked as they have on our last couple of Carnival cruises.

Entertainment on Royal is a notch above what we have experienced on our last few

cruises on Carnival.

There seemed to be about the same amount of kids, with a few rowdy ones.

I'll try to write a full review later--work didn't magically get done while I was gone but

a girl can dream Big Smile

In the future, we will try other lines as prices allow.  Between Royal and Carnival, we would choose based on price, ship, and itinerary since we found them to be

more alike than different :)

San Juan airport is up and going for daytime flights.  There are taxis readily available.  Much devastation is still obvious in the port and airport area.  Some of the hotels we saw on the way to the port had a lot of damage--I think it will be a good while before things are back to "normal".

Glad it went well now take a look at Pinkie Princess Party!!!!!!!!

Thanks for posting the information and comparisons. Valuable info for those of us considering other lines. Glad you had a good trip.

Good to hear things went well and very happy to hear things are at least moving in San Juan. Having the port and airport open can only help them.

Great to hear!

Welcome home!  It is nice to hear things went well and all those nightmares were for naught.  I like that things are more similar than we are often led to believe. Thanks for letting us know how San Juan is recovering.  Now follow Debbie's advice and join us next September, please.

Welcome home! Thank you for posting about the differences! I often look at the differences in the 2, keep on trying to get the boss lady to pull the trigger on a NCL or RCCL, but just have not done it yet!

It was nerve wracking, but we honestly felt right at home as soon as we checked in.

I'm anxious to try NCL and Princess.

And one observation I forgot about:  the hot tubs on RCCL can hold just as many folks as the ones on Carnival Big Smile

akaGrandmajo - you may still be a little young for the Princess crowd, but if you would like to cruise Princess, we would be happy to welcome you aboard. Welcome back!

I'm glad to read this.  I've been thinking RCCL Oasis of the Seas for my next cruise.  Did you have a balcony or regular cabin and how was it compared to CCL?

Awww :)  57 and counting--I think we're on the right side of the hill for Princess LOL
