Automation and cruising in the future

Saw this discussion on another forum and through I'd bring it here...

With all the advancements in technology, the cruise industry is picking up on a few things (e.g., smart cards to operate in-room lighting).  What do you think are near future trends (meaning those that we will see in our life time) that the cruise industry will implement?

Some of the larger ships already have robot bartenders.  I just heard of one ship that uses a robot to answer passenger questions. Perhaps one day, we will use our fingerprints to open our staterooom door or when signing for purchases on board.  Maybe we will be talking to our room TV set telling it to make dinner reservations or show reservation.

My problem is that I try and get away from technology when cruising so I hope it's a long way off ... already dislike the energy-saving room cards!

Resistance is futile, You will be assimilated, You will become part of the collective..........sorry wrong show. I can see virtual cruising." Royal Caribbean"
They already can project live scenery coverage in inside suite walls. Next will be getting your video of your cruise filmed from your perspective. " Go Pro"

I agree with Debbie though--I cruise to get away from technology.

I'm thinking the next thing to go might be specialty coffee.  There are plenty of multi-option machines available, that's how I get my latte in the United Club.
