Australians choosing a honeymoon cruise

Me and my partner are looking to travel to the USA and also do at a Caribbean cruise for our honeymoon in December. We are looking to leave from Port Canaveral so we can spend some time in Orlando beforehand. We are looking at either the Eastern Caribbean Cruise on the Oasis of the Seas or the Western Caribbean Cruise on the Carnival Breeze.

Any suggestions or advice on what would be the better option? We are both in our early 30s and have never been on a cruise before.

Thanks!

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding and welcome to the forum.

Personally, I would prefer the Eastern Caribbean over the Western Caribbean, unless you are interested in Mayan history. The Eastern islands just seem friendlier and safer for the most part.

Keep in mind, however, that itineraries are like food ratings -- highly subjective.

Your best bet is to do a bit of research on the differences. This site has a couple or more articles that you may find useful. You can find them under the "Advice" tab above.

If your looking for more activities on the ship,  I'd go with the Oasis of the Sea's.

Ummmm,  I’m going to make an assumption here, but only because of your wording.  You stated you and your partner, ( instead of girlfriend ) which is fine.   I could care less.   The point is, do some research on the different islands and their tolerances.   Puerto Rico, and the U.S Virgin Islands are fine, no worries. Some of the French Islands however, have seen attacks.    I suggest Frommer’s guides as they have a chapter dedicated to this.

I hope I’m not out of line here, and I apologize if I offended anyone.  As I stated, the assumption is purely based on the wording of the poster.   There are still ignorant people in the world and attacks do happen.

congrats on the honeymoon

enjoy the cruise

I see no reason the OP should be offended, as you made a valid (and very important) point about personal safety.

Congratulations!  I agree with all the above.  I've not sailed on either ship and as far as which is better.... I don't think it will matter.  My sister loves the mega ships on RCCL and will not sail anything less.  The best part of the mega ship is, it's easier to get lost in the crowd or find a quiet spot to be alone (so says my sister). Me, I prefer a small ship with less people. Sometimes it just comes down to, which islands you really want to visit.

We did Oasis B2B last April and liked the Eastern (get a Beach Cabana in Labadee...well worth it) over the Western. Oasis is a good choice for honeymoon because there is so much venues to explore and quiet areas to find. I found a door near deck 9 elevator that led to a small balcony to sit on and overlook the Central Park. And sitting in Central Park is enjoyable also. The upper deck of the front Solarium is cozy, with a light breeze off ocean. There is a adults Comedy Club that is fun for couples to have a "date night". Don't forget to spend a "nothing" afternoon looking for the "viewfinders" spread around the ship and see the pic inside them (google a map for them)
