Part of my 7 day cruise is going to Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Honduras......and I was wondering if anyone has had a good excursion there.
Are there awesome excursions in Roatan?
Tabyana Beach is beautiful. Im going back in April 2017.
I have been to Roatan 2 times , I took a Taxi to the beach both times
Roatan is on my list of places to go. I'm not sure if I can convince my BF on a beach day (unless it is as cool as Maho with planes flying overhead)
A good place to check is on the Ship Mate app for your smart phone. It has non-ship excursions and suggestions left by prior traveler of how to get around, shopping, restaurants, tips and things to do. It also has a chat for each port.
I took a semi-submersible & island tour. The semi-submersible part was really nice. We got to see a good variety of fish & part of the coral reef. There weren't any super big fish like sharks but it was still pretty cool. They stopped at a rum cake store which had some great views of the ocean from on top of the hill. And the cameo factory is pretty cool. If you are not familiar with cameos, they are carvings done on seashells. These people are very talented. The main town is kind of small, so there is not much to see there.
Try Victor Bodden tours. In 2015 we hired them for the "Best of Roatan" tour at $80 per couple (less /person if 3 or more) we had a completely private customized driving tour where we picked the places & how long we stayed at each, it was a blast.
My only warnings would be the tour company expects to be paid in US $ at their main office sometime before the tour ends. Also most of the venues you can ask to stop at are a la carte for entrance or activity fees, again many ask you pay in US cash preferably exact change (but you're told what the fees will be in your confirmation email).
Yes. Loved Little French Key. Was able to pet an honest to goodness male lion for the first time in my life, hold monkeys and birds, etc. Great beach and ambiance. Food good too.
Also did a Carnival excursion to one of the parks that had monkeys, huge iguanas, birds, pirate history, zip line, pirate history etc. Really enjoyed this.
