We are heading to St. Maarten in 3 weeks and have booked an excursion through this site. We will be going to 2 beaches and one is MaHo where the airport is right at the edge of the beach. Can't wait to see that!

We were in St Maartin in January. Why ?

on the subject of St. Maartin, if anyone wants some really good cigars, but doesn't want Cubans, down at the end of the pier, towards the little shops are a bunch of kiosks.  On the right side is a woman that sells hand rolled cigars branded DAS.  They are very good, and reasonably priced.

just a point of info.

In St Maarten We went bar hopping aw we wandered from the ship.   The food and drinks were best at "The Blue Bitch Bar"    They also have great t-shirts that gets me comments when ever I wear it.

I was in Amber Cove in December.  I was disappointed that the beach was a taxi cab ride from the pier.  I had hoped to go to the new beach after my Puerto Plata shore excursion but we got back to the ship too late to do that.  I hope on my next visit to go to the beach area.  Puerto Plata was a nice excursion - noting too special but I did buy a nice ring in one of the stores in the plaza.   It flips from an amber stone to a laramar stone & I love it.  It is very unusual.  I was glad that I saw the place but just sorry that i missed the new beach.
