Anthem of the Seas (New Year's Eve Cruise) 12/27/15-1/3/06

Anthem of the Seas- 12/27/15-1/3/16 (New Year’s Eve cruise )

Biggest advice-make reservations for dinner, shows and activities at home before leaving on your cruise.  If you can’t make those reservations in advance, do it as soon as you arrive on the ship as there are 4800 on board taking up slots quickly.

The Anthem of the Seas was amazing with the highest advances in technology throughout the ship.  With 4800 passengers on board, Royal Carribean was highly organized with embarkation and debarkation. Very quick and efficient. Let’s begin with the amazing New Year’ Eve celebration—free champagne, a 7 piece string quartet in the music room, dancing, fabulous singers, large screen, and of course, the famous North Star drops when you do the countdown to 2016.  It was nothing short of amazing and the families on board were all wonderful (not rowdy) as we all welcomed in 2016 with a bang.

Entertainment- Amazing!  Better than Las Vegas and Broadway shows-not kidding!-top notch entertainment.  Singers and dancers fabulous.  Best show-We Will Rock You.  A Comparison of modern day and early rock-just amazing actors and singers. They also had a show called Spectra Cabaret-amazing dancers and singers in the Two Experience Solarium.  Was a cabaret (like Joel Grey in Cabaret) with some dark themes but also similar to a Cirque du Soleil.  Great dancers but the show was a little odd.  Did not get to see The Gift as I believe there were technological difficulties that night.  The ventriloquist show is not to be missed (Ronn Lucas has performed for many presidents (Reagan, the Clintons, etc).  A very cute, Jewish concert piano comedian show was adorable-fantastic classical piano music to humor.  For example, as he portrayed Liberace during one part of the show, instead of putting out a candelabra, he puts on his piano his menorah! The Royal Theatre, where all the productions took place was beautiful. Plenty of room for everyone.  Just get there 15-30 minutes earlier to grab a front center seat.  DSB (Journey tribute band) was outstanding. Although they advertise three star shows, there were excellent productions every night!  Comedian (Ralph Harris)-very funny.  Saxophone player-fantastic! Buble Tribute band-modern day Frank Sinatra group-very good.  The MC (Abe Hughes) was amazing-much quicker than Johnny Carson!

Food- Delicious Food!!!  The Grande was the formal dinner place-great ambiance and I would recommend you eat there every night.  The waiters are fantastic there.  The Chic Restaurant was also fabulous-great ambiance too.  Although they serve similar food in all the restaurants, I wasn’t a fan of the ambiance of the other restaurants-American Icon and Silk.  My least favorite was Silk-Pan-Asian food because the food was too spicy, but the restaurant itself had a great ambiance.  The Windjammer (Deck 14) had all day buffet service and had a multitude of food options.  Excellent.  Deck 14 had the free ice cream cones (like Carvel ice cream).  Sorrento’s-24 hour free pizza!  Great for a quick bite after breakfast, lunch or late dinner!  It was our dessert!  Also here, you can order your own pie with choice toppings.  There is no central dining area, only separate restaurants.

Activities-  Too many to name, but here are some:  Bumper cars, Roller Skating, FlowRider (like Hawaii Five O Surfing! Outside), I-Fly (flying in a clear glass machine), basketball, North Star (makes a 360 degree turn on the water so you can see the ship from high above), X-box, video games, ping-pong, pool, four pools (one indoor pool), a walking running track, Trivia several times during the day, art show, shopping on board, piano music, fun passenger games-Battle of the Sexes, Love and Marriage, **Name that Tune (not to be missed-within the show, they do had fabulous songs, dancers, band music, etc), Pictionary, etc.

Stateroom-very spacious and comfortable.  The showers in a glass shaped curve was fantastic.  No water spill like the old days! Lovely balcony with wonderful room service every night except last night.  Yum!

Excursions- plenty to choose room.  In Orlando, we took a pontoon boat  around Coco Beach and saw ecosystem (pelicans, wildlife) and dolphins.  In Nassau, we went to Belmoral Island (a private island) and played with the Dolphins (under the direction of an instructor).  On New Year’s Eve, during the day we went to Cococay.  Did some shopping but came too late-couldn’t find a lounge chair!  But, we had a lovely barbecue lunch.

Gym-  Fantastic.  Huge gym with the best equipment.  Went there every morning.

Technology-all advanced -Special Bionic Bar-a robot made and mixed your drinks. All reservations were made via internet and ipad.  We also had the Royal IQ app which I recommend but the internet wasn’t working all the time.

Artwork throughout all the decks are interesting.

Casino  -somewhat small but adequate. Is smoky though.  Spent very little time there.  Too many fun activities to do.

A phenomenal cruise.  Only recommendations would be to have another free ice cream area other than deck 14, perhaps more afternoon games other than trivia, better Royal IQ chat service, Android service is incomplete, more island boats when you dock at Nassau (a longer wait to get onto the boat) a waterslide for the kids, no smoke in the casinos, and a option for dining with the same waiter (you may be able to request such).  The only other suggestion is to perhaps, go to other ports.  Many passengers have been to Cococay, Nassau and Orlando before. Other than that, this is an amazing ship with the finest of everything.

If you would post this in the review section it would be of help to others that are looking up reviews of the ship. Here it is posted in the forum and will drop down in to obscurity in a few days or weeks. It is a shame as it is a through, good review.
