For those traveling during the upcoming hurricane season, check your contract and/or buy travel insurance because it's looking like we are in for a rough season!

That's a lot of storms being forecasted! Yikes! Cruises may be more of an adventure than planned if the ships need to change course to avoid as much of the storms as possible.

My up coming trip I did get insurance through a subsidery of USAA.  $120 for total coverage.  Living o NC coast called hurricane alley I thought it wise.  Been through hurricanes before and yes there is an excitement about them.  They are Dam scary.  Especially when you lose power, the rain, wind and lack of food if it slams your area.  Last one Mathew sailed across my area with more rain than wind.  That rain caused major flooding 70 miles inland.  The coast was not harmed..  Hurricanes suck  or blow...

I was pretty surprised too ... made me rethink what I might want to do in Sept./Oct.... Not so much from a cruise perspective but spending any time in FLA before or after ... AND that's why I don't live on the ocean as much as I would love to!  Hurricane Andrew pushed a house we used to own 3 blocks west - inground pool and all ...thank goodness we weren't living there at the time.

On a positive note, the cruise ships are especially good at navigating around potential bad weather and hurricanes give ample notice unlike tornadoes....

I have yet to buy insurance but perhaps the time is near to do so.

We tend buy insurance more now days. I did not know USAA sold travel insurance. I will need to look into that.

They are reasonable and helpful when you run into problems.  At least they were with me.
