Not surprising. TSA is probably reacting to some new threat or technology using current information obtained from their sources. The bag density issue does make sense for additional screening of carry-on contents.  Others?

Las Vegas has implemented many of these things already in the past months ...

I personally don't mind any reasonable screening to help ensure safety for everyone.

We don't carry on much anyhow.

I have nothing to hide and welcome any extra security screening.

Unfortunately, I need to fly to where I need to go at times and the last time I took my laptop with me and after it though their scanner, they took it aside and did their chem wipes on it, played with the battery and give it a good look over with their eyes and then tried to stuff it back into the back pack.

Same thing for me and my phone!

They tried to stuff you and your phone in my back pack?
