Advice about excursions

We will be traveling to Freeport and Nassau Bahamas and also Key West Florida in January 2019. Any advice on things to do? We have only been on one cruise and would like some pointers. We would like to do beaches or economical things. Is there anything you would absolutely not miss doing or would never do again? Thanks in advance! Big Smile

Welcome to the forum.

We enjoy the Hop On Hop Off trolly tours in Key West and then walking around the town using a map printed from the Key West or trolly website. Be sure to stop at Kermit’s Key (West) Lime Pie Shoppe for a slice of the worlds best key lime pie. They also have tons of samples of other goodies made from key limes.

In Nassau you can easily walk to Junkanoo Beach and do some souvenir shopping along the way.

We haven’t bern to Freeport.

Hope you enjoy cruising as much as we do.

Thank you so much!!! I will be sure to get some pie as I love key lime. We were thinking Junkanoo beach as well. So great! We were wondering if it was safe to walk to the beach. Some have said it’s not very safe. Would love to hear if anyone has been to Freeport Bahamas before. Thanks again BonMike!

I can only offer advice on Key West.  It is a beautiful port and easily navigated on foot.  Having said that, doing the Hop on Hop off trolly is an inexpensive way to see a lot of the town.  We enjoyed ours.  In addition to the Key Lime pie, don't forget to go to Sloppy Joe's.  It's a Key West tradition.  Also, if you enjoy history, take a tour of the Truman Little White House.

Went to Key West on our own awhile back...not on an excursion tho...spent a buncha time at Hemingways House...saw the 6 toed cats, "the penny" he embedded in the pool after wifey spent more on the pool than the house cost..unfortunately couldnt do what I really wanted to do, which was pee in SLOPPY JOES urinal...It wound up there...seemed he used it so much at the bar, they figured he owned it....the caretakers frown on that stuff...specially since the weird cats drink out of it. Now that was one port I didn't think twice about wandering around on our own...why is that???  never mind, rhetorical question...

In Freeport, there's a shopping center right off the pier.  In the middle of the shopping center is an astronaut exhibit.  Go take a look around, because right where that exhibit is was the landing site for John Glenn for his first orbit around the earth.

landed in the shopping center eh?? mustve made a helluva bang...any sales on??? I mustve missed that exhibit....
