? About missing the ship.

I know if you miss the ship mid cruise you can arrrange to meet it at the next port. But what happens if the port is the last one before heading home ?   Assuming you manage to fly home ahead of the ship, will customs allow you to board to retrieve your belongings, or will the staff pack up your room and bring your luggage out to the curb ?

I’m guessing the latter.  I cant imagine customs permitting anyone to board, when they are trying to get everyone else off.

I tend to agree with your take on this one. And I definitely do not plan to find out the hard way which option they choose. Man .. think of all those nice missed sea days on the coming home leg.

When I look back on the hassle it was for my son to disembark early in St. Maarten and what we went through ahead of time let alone on board with customs .... I would tend to believe it is NOT an easy process with quite a nightmare with Customs not so much the ship....

They probably throw your stuff in your luggage without regard to precision and dump it in baggage but THEN you probably have quite an ordeal getting it ...

Just my opinion ...

Yeah, but your son KNEW he was getting off in St. Maartin, and then coming home.   I’m talking about those people who get back to the ship, only to find, well, no ship.

That's my point ... we planned ahead and it was a hassle ... if you miss the ship, I can't see them being accommodating....

Okay this is what I found over at Cruise Critic."

"Retrieve your belongings.

If you decide to return home instead of rejoining the sailing at the next port, you'll have to address the fact that your belongings are still aboard the ship. The cruise line can usually have everything shipped to you, but just know that it might not be cheap."

So sounds like you have to talk to the cruise line customer service about having it shipped at your expense.
