23 Y/O man falls overboard Carnival Victory @ 3AM

The search is still on for 23 Y/O man that fell off the 8th deck of the Carnival Victory at 3 AM near Cuba.

This from ABC: MIAMI, Fla. - Crews with the United States Coast Guard and Cuban Search and Rescue authorities are searching for a 23-year-old Floral City man who fell off of the Carnival Victory cruise ship 33 miles northwest of Pinar Del Rio, Cuba. Brandon Paul, 23, reportedly went overboard from the eighth deck of the cruise ship at approximately 3 a.m. The cruise ship launched a search boat and the Seventh Coast Guard District Command Center was contacted. Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew launched to search for Paul. The cruise ship crews continue to search on scene. Cuban Search and Rescue Authorities have launched assets to assist in the search efforts due to the proximity of the incident to Cuban territorial seas.


Since it was the first time posted here it was not old news to the board. You may have heard of it earlier in the day but others may not have.

I learned about it from your post - tried to check it out and found nothing new. Just looking for an update.

After this long, I doubt if there will be good news.

Sadly, these things often happen during Spring Break. I've seen no updates.

It is always disturbing when something like this happens.

Unfortunately, due to the design and height of the safety railings, most instances of people going overboard fall into two categories. (1) suicide or (2) alcohol combined with stupidity. Given the shear numbers that cruise annually, the percentage of those that do go overboard are very low, although still tragic!

This boy/man was from my town. He has not been found. I believe they are declaring him deceased. So sad. Many rumors on what happened.

This young man "fell" overboard back in March. Unfortunately, there is little chance of finding a person alive when this happens.
