Impressive ship, Impossible not to have a good time! First time on Oasis class and it met my expectations. Loved the modern furnishings and decors and endless activities. Easy to navigate and explore, even the elevators weren't too crowded except for after events. The shows are what sets this ships apart from the others, loved almost all of them except for the Beetles Headliner. Aqua shows and Blue Planet took took entertainment to another level. Leaving the ship for port days was efficient and easy despite the large number of people on the ship, I was pleasantly surprised. Kids loved the kids swimming area and pools. Loved our boardwalk balcony room. Not too noisy but still in on the fun. loved the assistant cruise director, he was a lot of fun and resonated well with the audience. The main cruise director was a little stuffy. Our only frustration was we felt food and service took a huge hit on this large of ship. Windjammer had great offerings and service but is super crowded! Dining room menu seemed as good or better than the other ships , but the Staff seemed stretched thin and too busy, had a hard time keeping up. Drink orders and condiments were rarely offered like they usually are. We had to ask for menus. Sounds crazy, right? We'd have to ask for a Coke or cocktail sauce for the shrimp. They lacked the personal touch and anticipation of needs like other royal ships. I like to cruise Royal for their excellence in Gluten-free dining and this ship really struggled. Just a few examples: The entire ship was out of gluten free pasta which was not fun for our 9 year old, the waiters didn't take our orders for the next day and on the last night the majority of our items were brought to the table as the gluten version. Very frustrating as by day 7 they have you memorized. Just a very odd, off experience in the dining room. Maybe they were new? All in all we still had tons of fun, and tons still left to do. I may stick with freedom class to better meet our food allergies.

Adventure of the Seas

January 2017 - 7 Night Southern Caribbean (San Juan Roundtrip) Cruise on Adventure of the Seas

We enjoyed ourselves on Adventure of the Seas. The itinerary and staff were great. For those who were wondering about the dry dock...Ship is well cared for and windjammer, dining room and public areas seem updated and nicely refreshed. Waterslides, mini golf and flow rider were functioning. Chops is still not completed. Rooms and hallways still need to complete the interrupted renovations. We were on deck 9 and had old carpet and furnishings, Although other rooms in our floor were starting to get new carpet. Room attendant worked hard to keep it clean and refreshed. We loved the comedian, ice show, illusionist, guitarist, 80's name that tune, quest game, love and marriage show and the cruise director. The singing & dancing shows felt more like high school productions and seem to lack modern appeal. Our ports were St Maarten, St Kitts, Antigua, St Lucia, and Barbados. We enjoyed every port and found something enjoyable to do at every port, so don't listen to those who say don't get off the ship. We even changed our friend's opinion of st. Kitts! ;) The pool deck activities lacked the love and vibrancy other ships have had. It was dead at night, no fun food or popcorn at the pool movies. Not sure what makes this ship different, but people are not lying about the odors. Decks 1-3 permanently smelled of sewage and it would often linger up to 5, even to the edges of the promenade. It was foul. We ate twice at Giovanni's. The limited Chops menu offers one steak, the New York Strip, and side dishes. Food is subjective, but I probably wouldn't pay for Giovanni's again, didn't love it as much as Chops. Overall, we had a great time, after all it's a cruise! But I think we prefer Freedom class.
