Norwegian Getaway

October 2015 - Norwegian Getaway to Caribbean - Eastern

Nice Ship but almost too much Free Style

Overall it was a nice boat with good service. There is nothing over the top here unless you are looking for a rock climbing wall, water slides and a ropes course. There are a lot of activities and almost too many. I found the entertainment to be mixed. Lots of music around the boat but main shows were all an extra charge except Burn the Floor and Comedy Club. The ship is almost too big losing a sense of community. It never feels overly crowded though. Rooms are small and I found it was not worth spending more for mini suite. Additional charge is truly for a bigger bathroom. That's it!  Overall we enjoyed our time.

dsyde's Tips

Nassau, Bahamas - Catch a city tour off the boat, visit Atlantis take a water taxi back for $4 pp and eat Conch in Nassau!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - Take taxi to city for $4 then grab a taxi from city to beach for $9. Much cheaper than any of the excursions from ship. Shop here. Not much in Tortola.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands - Walked off ship to the information center and got a great city tour and beach stop for $20 per person. Had a great guide Jason Mendez. If you can find him he is worth it. This port is best for beach. There is not much in the way of shopping.
Norwegian Getaway Norwegian Getaway - Unlimited Drink Package is great if you get it for free. Also would recommend Specialty Dining. Much better than mains but I would still eat in Mains for breakfast and lunch and perhaps a couple of dinners. Garden Cafe Buffet is crowded and especially chaotic for breakfast.
