August 2015 - 11 Night Scandinavia & Russia (Copenhagen Roundtrip) Cruise on Regal Princess
Regal Princess: Baltic cruise
My family and I have previously cruised with Princess, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity, NCL, and Carnival.
Unfortunately, this cruise had the WORST service of any cruise we have been on. The photographers were unhelpful, lazy, unfriendly, and arrogant and seemed to be irritated by us asking for an additional poses (one night, the photographer refused to photograph us more than one person at a time). We have previously bought many, many photographs from previous luding platinum studio sessions on previous Princess and Carnival cruises. Only bought a few photos on this cruise - extremely disappointed in photo services. Salespeople in jewelry store unhelpful, arrogant, unfriendly - no prices on any item - ?REALLY?.
Also very disappointed in bartender service - worst was middle forward on main pool deck. Bartenders there ignored customers, asked for a 5/4 bucket of Stella, he gave me Heineken and was irritated when I said that wasn't what I wanted. I just took the bucket he gave me because it wasn't worth arguing about. Never once did anyone ask if we wanted a drink on deck on sea days. Waiters in Club 6 slow, usually took about 15 minutes to get our drinks after we ordered them.
Waitresses at frozen yogurt place unfriendly, acted as if doing you a favor getting you an ice cream, actually refused to give us popcorn because they were "saving the popcorn" for the movies - even though cold and no one watching the movie! - Ridiculous
Not happy with pool staff, refused to get out deck chairs on early days from ports, most passengers sat on deck floor, including one guy with a cane and another guy's elderly wife whose husband was in a wheelchair.
Ate at Sabatini's and Crown Grill. Good service and food at Crown Grill; mediocre food and poor service at Sabatinis.
Extremely disappointed with short stay in Stockholm. Ridiculous docking an hour away in Nynasham. Cruise staff said that big ships couldn't negotiate way to ports in Stockholm. Guess what: Royal Caribbean's Brilliance of the Seas was docked at the Stockholm port, minutes from Gamla Stan - while we had to cattle drive it (tender and take an hour long bus ride). Guess Princess trying to save port docking fees - with the passengers screwed out of a longer stay in one of the best ports.
Our room steward (Jeffrey) was excellent; maitre'd Nicola was excellent, our waiter Ronnie was very good. Otherwise staff seemed disinterested, unhelpful, and arrogant.
Entertainment: average at best
Food quality: average to above average.
Onboard activities: nonexistent at poolside. Usual bingo crap and art auctions.
Ship design: Nice, but no nicer than any other cruise ship we have been on. Major flaw: no center stairwell - makes passengers have to go all the way forward or aft to take stairs.
Cabin: nice size, room steward excellent; however bathroom smelled like urine/dirty socks for the entire cruise.
In summary: MUCH better service on all previous cruises (including Carnival!)
