Regal Princess

June 2015 - Regal Princess to Europe - Northern Europe

Baltic Sea Cruise - Regal Princess

Itinerary was very good.  All ports with exception of Gotenberg were very interesting and excursions were generally worthwhile.  Captain made effort to dock in city center of Stockholm rather than outside port and avoid 1 hr. bus ride to city - much appreciated.  Balcony stateroom was quite a bit smaller than previous balcony staterooms with other Princess ships.  Service on the ship was outstanding.  Dining staff, room attendant, front desk, etc., - all were extremely responsive.  Menu's and food was average however dining in the specialty restaurant (Crown Grill) was exceptional. Embarkation and disembarkation were the most efficient I have experienced with several cruise lines.  No standing in queues at all.

digb3204's Tips

Helsinki, Finland - Decided to not take an excursion and explored city on our own. Good decision. Easy to get around and several local tours available on city square at more reasonable pricing.
Nynashamn (Stockholm), Sweden - Surprisingly great city to wander around. Again, decided to forego the excursion and did it on our own. Very easy to get to old quarter of town and explore. Lots of thighs to see but a little too touristy.
Goteborg (Gothenburg), Sweden - Somewhat interesting little city, but overrun with tour groups for it's size. Excurion had too many people to manage well and failure to use personal radios resulted in not being able to hear the guide over the other noise.
Tallinn, Estonia - Very quaint city. Really enjoyed wandering around the narrow streets and boutiques.
Oslo, Norway - Excursion was worthwhile, i.e., Viking Museum, ski Jump, etc. Also enjoyed walking around town on free time.
Warnemunde (Berlin), Germany - Way too much to see in time allotted. 2-hr. train ride coming and going limited how much you could really experience the city.
Regal Princess Regal Princess - Buffet areas become very busy early in the morning before excursions and right before port departures, so if you want to eat them, allow extra time and be prompt. Getting through the lines and finding a place to eat can be very challenging.
