Disney Wonder

June 2016 - Disney Wonder to Alaska - Inside Passage

Disney Wonder Alaska-June 2016

Let me start out by saying the staff was amazing, they kept everything nice and clean, and always greeted you with a smile no matter where you were.  The ship itself was a good size, even though it carries so many passengers, there were times you could still find an isolated location to just admire the beauty outdoor as we sailed.  The food was great in the evenings, it helped that our servers were well knowledgeable in regards to what to recommend.  They never steered me wrong.  I did notice that the majority of cruises were not aware of dress codes, for formal nights or semi-formal nights.  That might be something that needs to be told to cruises when booking.  I only found out because I have had that happen to me in a past cruise, and it does make you feel uncomfortable when dinning on those days.  As for the activities, at first I was a little concerned since my children are in their teens, I wasn't sure if they would find things to do.  But my 13 year old had a great time at the Edge and made new friend who he is still in contact with.  As for my 16 year old, he was not that interested in the activities at the Vibe (all these are assigned clubs by age).  Although I do have to say they did have some great shows that we were all able to see as a family.  I would have preferred to have more activities that would let both boys interact with the family, kind of like a middle tier for kids 12 and up.  The activities were more at a level for little kids 10 and under with their family members.  That didn't stop us from participating and having fun, it's Disney after all.  Overall it was a great experience with fantastic weather.

Liberty of the Seas

August 2014 - Liberty of the Seas to Europe - Western Mediterranean

Ok Cruise

Overall it was a good cruise.  Unfortunately, I felt the staff was not all that helpful or welcoming, they did not seem enthusiastic about another cruise and new guest.  The dinning staff made up for the rest, they were exceptional.

carynrivera's Tips

Ketchikan, Alaska - For this port I would probable say, you can rent a car and do it on your own. There was not much that caught our eye other that doing some Eco-Kayaking and the rainforest hike. The Eco-Kayaking was really great, a lot of info and just a relaxing experience. We were not rushed and it definitely did not feel like I had worked out all my muscles the next day. Our guide, driver, and staff were all incredible friendly and easy to talk to. Unfortunately, for us the rainforest was a little disappointing since there was not much to see in wildlife (it depends on the month you travel). The guide was great, you could tell she loves what see does and tries to get everyone participating. The visit to the totem carving station was not much to it, there is a board behind the carver that tells you what he is working on and where you can find more information on the totem pole he is doing, I felt like we were bothering him. We did see a lot of Eagles, that was great.
Juneau, Alaska - This city is great. A lot going on, so don't get hooked by the jewelry stores unless you really are there to buy, they take up to much of your time and keep trying to sell you anything. Try the lift to Mt. Roberts it is a great site, but too cloudy for my taste. So we opted for Mendenhall Glacier w/Nuggets fall (do this early morning, not that many people) and to do some Whale watching. Those two activities were great for our day in Juneau. For the rest of the afternoon we spent some time in Juneau eating King Crab legs, definitely a must.
Skagway, Alaska - Even though it is a small town, there is so much to do and the people are incredible nice. If you get a chance I would say do some bike riding and horseback riding in Dyea. And in the afternoon visit the towns stores, you will have enough time.
Cruise Tracy Arm Fjord, Alaska - If you get a chance get a spot on the 10 level by the Vibe teens club right side. Right outside the door that leads to the deck are some lounge chairs, just pick one, lay down during the whole thing. all the other passengers will be on the left of the boat for the majority of the time, but you get the same view on the right as the ship turns.
Naples, Italy - Some construction being done around the area, not accessible to suvinour market and very dirty.
Barcelona, Spain - check in to the cruise was very very good, and simple. Great staff that made everything work smothly, we appriciate it.
