Serenade of the Seas

December 2015 - 9 Night Southern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Serenade of the Seas

Excellent cruise, ship and ports

This was our 2nd smaller ship experience after Allure and Oasis, the first being Independence, the second being Serenade, and all things being equal, we will stay with the smaller ships. All of the staff and crew were recognizable and available, and quickly resolved all issues. Only glitch that could not be fixed was the internet service which was very spotty and iffy, but that will take major upfitting.

We did book again while on the ship.

Allure of the Seas

September 2015 - 7 Night Western Mediterranean (Barcelona Roundtrip) Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Best Bucket List Cruise

My wife and I and another couple booked this cruise for our first Europe trip, knowing Allure was an excellent ship, and were very happy with it. We did arrive a day early in Barcelona to enjoy the city, then hit the ship.

Embarkation was smooth and efficient, Allure was as fine a ship as it has always been, and the staff aboard honored our special requests (one of which is a flourless chocolate cake, only generally offered one night a week as a special dessert). We decided to do the Chef's Table, and must recommend this option over any other specialty dining option as the most memorable meal we have ever had. Multiple courses, wine paired with each course, and the chef explaining the preparation and wine selection.

The ports visited in Italy were the most jam packed due to the sites available, but how can you not tour Florence, Pisa, Rome, and Naples-Sorrento-Amalfi Coast.

Our CO agent (Kathy Jezek) did an excellent job with helping us with all details to make this a very special trip

Independence of the Seas

December 2014 - 6 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Independence of the Seas

Excellent "smaller" ship

My wife and I wanted to try a smaller ship than the Oasis class, and Independence did not disappoint. Staff was excellent but not too intrusive. Only minor issues of scheduling meals around shows, and we did miss the Solarium Bistro and Park Café as dining options, but other than that well worth the time and price.

Oasis of the Seas

December 2013 - 7 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale roundtrip) Cruise on Oasis of the Seas

Excellent cruise, lots to do or not do

Truly enjoyed the cruise, accomodations, service, food, activities, and the ability to do nothing if desired. Only wish time had not been so tight in Nassau. Best port was St. Martin.

Allure of the Seas

December 2012 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale roundtrip) Cruise on Allure of the Seas

bulldogbandit's Tips

Serenade of the Seas Serenade of the Seas - Test your internet package on day one, if it does not work right, cancel, it will get no better. Depends on your devices
La Spezia, Italy - Be prepared for a trek to Florence and Pisa, but well worth it
Naples, Italy - Again, would have loved even 2 hours more to tour with having to watch the clock
Barcelona, Spain - Going one or two streets of La Ramblas yields a more non tourist experience
Allure of the Seas Allure of the Seas - Spend the first few hours familiarizing yourself with this ship, it is huge. Also check dining hours at restaurants
Independence of the Seas Independence of the Seas - Be sure to check out the Case de Habanos at the pier instead of the merchants lining the streets. As of December 2014, the ship had a cigar lounge next to the Alhambra, which was nice for a late night or after dinner cigar.
Oasis of the Seas Oasis of the Seas - I liked the Solarium for breakfast, but it was too "healthy" for the kids, they preferred the larger variety at Windjammer. Park Cafe is good also but hours were shortened from last year when we did the Allure. Earliest AM coffee option is Cafe Promenade
