October 2015 - Carnival Imagination to Mexico
I have to say this was such a mediocre cruise experience. The ship was clean and the rooms were very well serviced each day. However, the things you look for on vacation like good food options, 21+ drinks, and onboard activities were just blah. The buffets had very basic and limited options. I think for three days, I saw burgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders as a regular menu item. The Cheers program had no details online or when you sign up on the ship. It includes 15 cocktails per day 6am-6am. If you reach 15 drinks, they cut you off completely from being served. The program only covers up to $10 a drink. If you want top shelf (grey goose, patron, etc), you're limited to shot, or mixing with a soda or juice. No luck substituting on a specialty cocktail. However, $49/day for 15 cocktails is a deal considering the average cocktail costs $7.95-$9.95 each. The onboard activities were another bore. A few DJs were good. The Illusions nightclub was fun but there needed to be a second nightclub so you didn't have to wait so long for the themes to change. It usually cycled every hour or so from 80's, 90's, house, then hip hop/top 40 after midnight. The casino was also fun. Surprisingly, there was roulette and craps on a cruise ship.
