February 2015 - Norwegian Breakaway to Caribbean - Southern
There are several reasons we were disappointed in this cruise. The first was that we did not get to stop in San Juan, but this was due to rough ocean conditions. However, other items did affect our enjoyment.
The most annoying thing to us was that many of the activities on board were scheduled in the Atrium. There were 4000+ passengers on board and the atrium had seating for about 200 so we never did get to see many programs. Some people would just sit all day and wait for the next program. For some programs, there would be hundred or more people standing around trying to see. While the food was mostly very good, we were disappointed on several occasions: the lasagne and moussaka were baked dry like they had been made several days prior to serving; they ran out of grapefruit juice (my wife's favorite) and we repeatedly had to request refills for water. coffee and butter. While these things are minor in scope, they are, unfortunately, what we remember, Finally, something that could not have been foreseen but nonetheless unpleasant, the toilet in,our stateroom overflowed and flooded the bathroom floor. While it was repaired by maintenance after twenty-five minutes, we were left to mop up the mess.
For the most part, we enjoyed the cruise but my closing comments would be: too many people and not enough space for them on days at sea. We have found cruises on the Holland-American ships to be more user friendly i.e great libraries and reading rooms, informational lectures and places to sit.
