Empress of the Seas

December 2017 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Empress of the Seas

Liberty of the Seas

October 2017 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Liberty of the Seas

Simply my favorite class of ship. Not too big not too small. Lots to do. Absolutely love it. The ship is well kept. If you like independence it’s the same. The only two oddities I found were the Texas liquor rules in port of Galveston which is a bit off putting but not the cruises fault. Also the clientele is a bit odd compared to that of most the other royal Caribbean ships. I guess when you’re right by Houston it is what it is and you get what you get. Between it being so far from Houston airports and the demographic (lots of Texans on board) I’d probably not go out of my way to book a Texas cruise again. The Florida ships are preferred for me. But this ship is great and of course the staff is fantastic.

Allure of the Seas

October 2017 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Allure of the Seas

Was a cool experience as it was my first Oasis class ship cruise. It’ll be my last unless I get a deal I can’t refuse. While I love all the fun stuff to do, the Windjammer is constantly packed with lines to get in. Should have designed the ship to better accommodate. The elevators are so so slow and they’re always packed. Been on every other class ship and never had these issues. The concept of having to pre reserve show times and tickets is annoying and defeats the whole go with the flow of cruising. As usual the staff of RCL is a 10/10 though. Had a great balcony room. I say it’s a ship everyone should do once at least I suppose.

Norwegian Jewel

May 2017 - 7 Night Alaska Sawyer Glacier (Seattle Roundtrip) Cruise on Norwegian Jewel

Was my first cruise with NCL. Likely my last. I booked an ocean view room partially obstructed. Got to my room and it was 100% obstructed. Wasn’t a picture window was just a thin strip of glass. I complained to NCL and they said their website says it. When I asked for the link they sent me a link and it showed a 30% obstruction on a huge ocean view picture window. Be aware. Most cruise lines will only call it partially obstructed if it’s

Explorer of the Seas

May 2017 - 4 Night Best Of British Columbia (Seattle Roundtrip) Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

I just love the size and setup of this ship. I took it on a short British Colombia five day and it was so fun. Absolutely the perfect short cruise and the amenities on board are great. I have always wanted to try a promenade room and I did on this ship. Love love love the promenade room. It’s fun to people watch and there’s always something to see. Love the window seat! I’d do this cruise and ship again in a heartbeat.

Jewel of the Seas

March 2017 - Southern Caribbean Cruise on Jewel of the Seas

4/5 for the staff and experience. 2/5 for the port (nasty San Juan) and the ship could use some serious updates. I’ve been on some pretty old ships and they usually do a better job keeping them up to date. San Juan is like a third world country. It’s funny they say it was nice before the hurricanes. This ship was before the hurricanes. It was like a third world island before and still is after. The taxi drivers are rude and almost demand tips. The city is in collusion with the cruise industry to only allow taxis at the airport and jack up the rates. Yuck. I won’t be going back to cruise out of PR not take any cruise hat docks in San Juan. No wonder they’re always the cheapest cruises in the world. Not worth it. Cruise elsewhere.

Celebrity Summit

March 2017 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Celebrity Summit

Amazing ship. Amazing crew. Only complaint is it seemed like the ship could use a serious top to bottom cleaning. It was not as clean and maintained as the typical Celebrity ship. But impeccable service as always from Celebrity.

Empress of the Seas

February 2017 - 4 Night Key West And Nassau (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Empress of the Seas

Love this ship! It’s my favorite ship in the RCL fleet. Sure she’s small. Sure the rooms are tiny. Sure it’s older. Sure it doesn’t have as fancy stuff on board. But it’s a great size. Never drama boarding or disembarking. Always super short walk from one area to another. Never issues getting seats at bars or restaurants or shows. I just booked my third time on her and am so excited! Oh yeah the staff is fantastic!!!

Independence of the Seas

December 2016 - 4 Night Western Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Independence of the Seas

This is my second favorite ship in the RCL! Great combination of medium large size ship mixed with great amenities and layout. I had a blast on this ship. I want to go on her again!

Empress of the Seas

December 2016 - 3 Night Bahamas (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Empress of the Seas

Queen Mary 2

November 2016 - 7 Night Transatlantic Westbound (Southampton To New York) Cruise on Queen Mary 2

I will echo some of the sentiments others have. The ship is beautiful. They did an amazing refurb. It’s immaculate. Cruise ship service and cleanliness is always good but QM2 is stunning. She looks brand new still. The cruise was fun, but it lacked the “always things going on” that the more mainstream lines offered. Additionally I found the nightly shows to be a bit dull. The lectures were interesting but I craved some cirque du soilel or dancers and singers by the end of the sailing. The dining room was crusty. Food in dining and buffets was top notch by cruise standards though. I did it once. I won’t do it again. But it was a great fun experience crossing the Atlantic by ship.

Carnival Fantasy

September 2016 - 4 Night Bahamas (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Fantasy

What’s not to love about this ship. Sure carnival isn’t the most glamorous out there but they make it so fun. They always have stuff going on and a carnival favorite is the comedy clubs the ships have. Love being able to go to the comedy club every night. It’s not as classy as some of the other cruise lines but there’s a certain charm to it. The only negative I give carnival is their 15 drink max in 24 hours thing. While 15 drinks sounds like a lot, in 24 hours it goes by quick when you figure mimosas with brunch then drinks at the pool and drinks with dinner and wine at the show then drinks at the comedy club and casino and what not. They should do away with that. None of the other cruise lines have caps. I will happily cruise with Carnival again though. It’s so fun like no other cruise line.
