September 2015 - 8 Night Eastern Caribbean (Ft. Lauderdale Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Conquest
This was my first and last time cruising with Carnival Cruise lines. I usually cruise with Royal Caribbean and because of price and recommendations I decided to give Carnival a try. Boy was I wrong, you can clearly see the difference between the two. In all fairness, I will break up this review in two parts. The good and the bad. First off this cruise ship is very dated looking, rusty in places, and looks dirty. They advertise a complete remodel in 2013 which I didn't see. Secondly, the food was horrible. The dinner in the dining room tasted like lower quality meats and the buffet was the worst I have ever eaten. The people who ate in the buffet were rude, piled up their plates high with food, left most of it on tables, and went on their way. You will often see people with plates of food in the elevator going to their room. Third, for a large ship, there were not a lot of common areas, and the ones they had were blaring with loud music and were over crowded at all times. Fourth, the shows were not very good. The singing was loud, overdone and out of tune. Fifth, the itinerary for the days at see were not very interesting, they always ran over so you couldn't go to the next one, and they were all designed for you to spend money and by something at the end. Now for the good. The staff and service were amazing. They were very personable, go out of your way to give you what you want, and address you by name. The hamburger place, burirto bar, and the expensive restaurant were delicious. It's a shame because the people and service were amazing and to fall short on quality. I will be sticking with Royal Caribbean.
