We didn't taken any organized excursions at this port. We did however take a cab from the airport to South Beach and walked around there. It was very interesting, and I would say that if you have the time, it's worth the visit.

We took the Shaw Gardens & Dunns River Falls excursion. There was a lot to see on this one. The Gardens were absoloutely wonderful, and so were the falls. However, had the description of the excursion been more detailed, we would have known that we needed to wear our suits and not bring our cameras to walk up the falls. We were not able to take advantage of that because we were not properly prepared. No one our bus was able to walk up the falls because we were not aware that you would be completely soaked doing this. I was really looking forward to climbing the falls. Also, since the shopping complexes that you are taken to are both within walking distance of the pier, I believe that it would be better to skip the shopping stops and then be able to spend more time at the Fall. Even if we had been able to climb the falls, we had barely over an hour before we had to be back on the bus and with the number of people climbing the falls, it would have taken more time than that.
We went to the Chachobben ruins, and they were great. The guide was very informative and pleasant. The bus ride was very comfortable. Upon returning to the "docking area" we discovered what appeared to be a really nice public pool area right in the center. Had we known about this area in advance, we would have worn/brought our suits so that we could have taken advantage of it. But we done the shopping instead.
We took the Wreck & Reef Snorkeling adventure at this port. It was a very good excursion. However, the snorkeling area is right in the middle of a boating area and this made the water extremely rough. If you are at all prone to motion sickness, this could be a problem. Also, because there are so many boats in the area, you have to constantly be aware of the boats and stay out of their way. Someone on our excursion had a "near miss" with an extremely large boat because he had his head down and didn't see/hear the boat approaching.
