Explorer of the Seas

March 2015 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Explorer of the Seas

Royal Caribbean now a party boat!

Just came off 5 day Caribbean cruise with some good things to speak of such as the Dining staff, Cabin attendant and cheerful Starbucks Baristas.  But this trip when we boarded became a Spring break college PARTY boat.   The wise Marketing staff at RC apparently decided it would be best to sell open cabins to college spring breakers with a special deal that they booked over 2/3 of the ship and I even heard overbooked the ship by 600 passengers.  All the bars and pools were overwhelmed by these college students, those of us returning customers were left to bear the pain of extreme noise, constant drunken partygoers till 3 am or later in the hallways.   Most students were nice and considerate, but those that were too drunk, were very disruptive, loud MP music players and singing in the crowded elevators, throwing chairs and other items off the ship, climbing balconies to steals chairs.  ( We were told those responsible were kicked off the ship)   But there was poor monitoring, handling of the overcrowding of bars, venues.  I observed on many occasions students ordering 2 or 3 drinks at one time, while other customers were attempting to order one.  When we departed the ship back in Port Canaveral it took nearly 3 hrs to finally get off clearing Customs.    Those checking bags were left to the very end, over 3/4 of the ship and nearly all the college students were self assist and left ship before those that had scheduled departure times.  No coordination and communication by the crew.  They could care less, since this was last trip for the ship, as it was heading next to Europe for 45 day revitalization, The crew and company were already dismantling the ship during the entire breakfast and offloading, containers being loaded on decks, everything from rooms being removed etc... as we were trying to prepare to leave ship.   No obvious attempt by Royal Caribbean to impress potential returning customers.   They may loose many from this trip.
