December 2012 - Carnival Breeze to Caribbean - Western
Did you get that this was a very, very bad experience?? Our waiter in the main dining room was extremely rude on a daily basis. One evening, a couple with our group arrived 10 mins after the others; the waiter took everyone's order but theirs because he felt "disrespected" they would show up late for his service. When they asked if they could place their order, he yells for all that he would help them AFTER everyone is served their dinners! Nightly the Maitre d', who believes he is Sinatra, would blast at 1000 decibels his attempt to sing the entire Sinatra collection of songs rather than do his paid job, followed by some raunchy, strip-tease or teeny-bop number with the waitstaff jumping onto the tables, stripping, and shaking their booties in our faces. Yuck! Entertainment staff were quite bad, the performances poorly executed, dancers showed they lacked good foundational training and were just hacks. Someone in our group were seriously injured when their excursion transport was rear-ended - they refused to let us borrow a wheelchair, they refused to let our person come aboard stating they would have to go to the hospital and cleared before being allowed onboard and since we were about to depart from port, we would have to pay a fortune to fly them from that island to the next stop and even then they may not be allowed to board. My son became critically ill on a Princess ship, was rushed to their hospital onboard and placed on life support until their treatments began working and he recovered, and received superior service; Carnival crew refused to help in any way until 2 serious (1 fatality) issues happened to others and they were forced by the police and coroner to stay put. Other's misfortune ended up being our only hope. Two good things about the Carnival Breeze: the lovely Russian girl that works at the coffee bar and the wonderful Japanese dining spot. This was our first and LAST time to ever go with a Carnival ship - we're sticking with Princess and Royal Caribbean - they understand how to run successful ships and trips.
