OVERWHELMED and OVERWORKED

Although we had a wonderful time on the OASIS, we found ourselves a bit dismayed at staffers who were not familiar with the ship. Yes, the crew was Unfamiliar and appeared Stressed. This disposition in no way added to the quality of our vacation where we are accustomed to chit-chatting with the crew and enjoying our total surroundings. In the main dining room, where the food that finally reached us was truly delicious, the poor disposition of the attendants prevailed. Subsequently, we stopped going to the dining room and located eateries elsewhere. Later on into the cruise, we found out that most of the crew were not working on adequate sleep. OVERWHELMED and OVERWORKED! Our personal solution: not to embark on a brand new ship until it has matured its staff. We have not been on the OASIS since, but I am sure we will again. After all, OASIS is a lovely ship with many themed areas aboard and the shows we were able to attend, were great! Speaking of shows, this was also our first experience of having to pre-book (even the free shows, COMEDY) since attendance was limited.

Allure of the Seas

May 2012 - Allure of the Seas to Caribbean - Eastern

Allure of the Seas - WOW of the Seas!!!

From the Fort Lauderdale International airport in Florida to our ship, Allure of the Seas, to our room where our luggage waited for us for a change and back to the party on the deck - truly a breeze. Coming in from New York, we attempted to think of all the possible hassles that could exist commencing with the airport security process to flight delays and weather mishaps, however, we never imagined that this process would be smoother than had we not flown to a destination port. Royal Caribbean was there to support and direct us (so we were not lost) all the way. The ship itself is lovely and our balcony room was indeed splendid and clean, too. We're doing it again. The greatest staff EVER. Unlike the OASIS of the Seas, the staff did not appear Overworked or Overwhelmed. I miss the staff and the engaging entertainment, especially Family Karaoke night. Oh, take me back!!!

Explorer of the Seas - Convenience

We wanted a vacation that did not require flying. We wanted sand and surf. We wanted heart-stirring music. We sailed the Explorer of the Seas again. Literally, the port was an 8 minute walk from our home. We should not have taken that walk. The ship was still in a mess. The ice cream bar located just outside of the windjammer buffet swarmed with flies. This was where food was dispensed. Rarely, did we see the ice cream station given attention to. The solarium seat cushions were old and tattered. Plus-side: The ports-of-call were what we were longing for. The itinerary was truly the best. The ship that has since replaced Explorer is QUANTUM of the Seas. We are waiting for Quantum to age a bit before we "explore" it.

EXPLORER - Horrible Ship. Wonderful Crew

We had a balcony. The balcony was having work performed on it. The balcony was not user friendly. There were no other room options available to us. We would have rather slept on the deck than to return to the room. Conversely, the crew was like a long lost family and we partied like it was 1999.
