I do not understand why people are so impressed with Royal Caribbean after going on this past cruise. Yes the ship did look better on the first day based on the inside level 5 where the shopping and bars are, I have only been on the Magic out of Galveston to compare but I would much rather that cruise hands down. First Navigator has no out door food options or places to get a water. So if you were swimming and you get hungry you have to get dressed to go into the buffet to eat. Magic had five places to eat and drink outside while you were swimming. This would not be a major thing if this was not the main thing you do on a cruise during the day. The food was also not very good besides a couple of the meals. I had the same dinner three times and it was not that good the first night. The waiter was rude and made a big deal if you asked for some thing different or seconds if you did find something you liked. The one thing I did like about this ship was the surfing at the back of the ship but the line was 20 plus deep most of the time. So when you ride for one minute and wait thirty minutes to ride again it kills the fun. The bed was more comfortable on Navigator but it also had a mattress pad on it so I am not sure if that was from a previous guest or standard for all rooms. After the buffet closes the only place to get something to eat for a mid night snack would be the sandwich shop on level five that was horrible anyways. So the lines would be long and hard to find a seat if you wanted to stay and eat. I did not find the ship exterior to be clean at all and was a running joke at the dinner table on if they had anyone to clean the ship. So I can not say the employees are over worked because I did not see any actually working. The ice skating was a fun show and the one comedy show was good but both are short and only a couple of the 7 day cruise. On the last day I even had an employee on the sports deck offer to fight me for asking to play the dodge ball game that was scheduled at 4 that they canceled. When security was called they would not talk to the one witness who heard it all. Instead they took the employees word and said they could do nothing about it. This happened the last day anyways so it was just icing on the bad cruise. Personally I like Carnival cruise lines a lot better. I do think Royal is a prettier ship but the Magic was much better laid out.

My concern was food and entertainment. I should not have had any concerns.
This was my first cruise so I was worried about being bored or if the food would be so bad and what would I for options for seven days. I would start with the entertainment as far as the dodge ball, comedy, etx was amazing. I would not be able to say much for the cruise director because he made me uncomfortable personally. The food was great at times and decent at others but always good enough to fill you up. Overall for the value you can not beat a cruise hands down. This was the very best trip for the price I could imagine and I travel often. Just a good mixture of relaxing and yet have things to do for free. When I go on my next cruise I will try for this ship it just had everything you could want and well kept.

Would not cruise on royal again for free
this ship was bad for every reason you could mention. Dirty everywhere out doors and no one ever cleaning. The ship rocked so bad I took medicine every night and still thought I was going to get sick. The food was horrible and hard to get to. On carnival they have multiple food options at the pool which this ship had none. Staff was very rude which I had to get security at one point. The ice show was fun but that was one hour. The flow rider was fun but in the afternoon it was a forty minute wait. Nothing about this cruise was worth doing again. It actually made me realize how great my daily life was and made me not want to vacation again. Thankfully we already had a cruise on a carnival the week after this one which reminded me why I love to travel.

The ship is pretty but everything else on the ship was a letdown in a major way. For free I would not go back on this ship.
This was the best stop for us.
Navigator of the Seas
I would suggest trying the stand up surfing. I had never done it and that made for a few hours of fun on the trip. The lines can get long so try to go the first day before people start to line up. Dining room lunch was the best meal so I would suggest trying that.
It is a little larger then Freeport city but still nothing special. I hardly left the ship this day.
Was the best city to visit actually.
The scuba diving was great but nothing besides that worth seeing.
Very easy to get on the boat.
Carnival Magic
The main thing I would suggest is knowing you are on Texas time at all times while on the ship. We missed booking two excursions because we did not think we would be back in time. Besides that we had a blast and you get to know a lot of people on the trip.
