I started cruising in 2004 and loved it from the beginning. The sun, blue waters, doing nothing or doing everything, it's perfect. I try to cruise every chance I get. I have gone with just friends, family and extended family.

Longer Cruise because of Hurricane Harvey

Our cruise was impacted by Hurricane Harvey. It his Galveston and Houston while we were out in the Caribbean. Our return was delayed and we stopped in New Orleans a couple of times to get supplies and allow people to get off. The crew did an AMAZING job during our stay. CNN was on the big screen at the pool showing the flooding and rescue efforts in and around Houston. I had many staff members ask me about my family and home. They were concerned about what displaced people would do. In the dining room Alexander, from Bosnia, was part of our wait staff. He treated us like part of his family. I learned about his home and plans for the future. He also asked about home and family to make sure we were all going to be ok. Our cruise director, Malcom, did a great job conveying information. He was professional and informative balanced with the right amount of humor and fun. I look forward to cruising on the Freedom again soon and hope to see familiar faces.

December 2016 - 6 Night Western Caribbean (Galveston Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Breeze

Our after Christmas Cruise

Boarding was delayed and we spent the night on the ship but in Galveston because of fog. But we still had a great time on our trip. My daughter spent most of her time between the 2 pools and water works. Our dining room staff was very memorable. We had Nemanja from Romania, along with Waldi and Vivaldi. They are in the best group of guys. Costa Maya was our favorite port because of the aviary. It was $15 to get in and walk around high above the port. The birds were fantastic. It is the thing we talk most about for this cruise.

Cruise tips

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

We did not know what to expect so just stayed at the port for the day. It is a fantastic port. There is a beautiful pool with a waterfall, swim up bar and restaurant. The Aviary was the highlight of the trip. I have such great pictures from high above the port. I would highly recommend the Aviary.
