Carnival Liberty

June 2015 - Carnival Liberty to Caribbean - Southern

Five great Caribbean ports...

Vessel sails out of San Juan at 10 PM which makes you count San Juan as an additional port to visit since you are sailing from Old San Juan. The selection of the other ports visited is great: St. Thomas, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Kitts, and St. Martin are all great ports. During my cruise the weather was excellent and awakening each morning at a new Island made waking up a day to look forward to a new experience. The vessel, though not new, is being maintained well and is clean, well staffed, and the food is good, too.

Carnival Conquest

May 2015 - Carnival Conquest to Caribbean - Southern

Good vessel, great ports, good service...

I have been on this vessel before and like its layout.  This cruise was available to me by the Casino Player's Club and I upgraded the inside cabin that comes with the reward, with a Balcony cabin on the 6th Deck for an additional small amount.  The Cabin is great, spacious and very well located.  I have visited all these ports before but I always like to return to Aruba and Curacao, two of my favorite ports.  Food was good and plentiful and the Carnival service as excellent as it is in all the cruises I do with them.

Carnival Conquest

April 2015 - Carnival Conquest to Caribbean - Eastern

Spring Braker's Cruise

I was concerned when I realized that I had booked during the Spring Break Season since my previous one was a really loud experience.  But somehow this was not bad, even though we had a lot of families with kids, students, and overall a large number of youngsters.  They banded together by the 2nd day of the cruise and since I avoid going to the main pool I did not hear all the activities for them going on there.  I stayed during the day in the Adult pool in the back of the ship which is nice and quiet.  The food  was good, and so was the entertainment and the staff was great.

Carnival Breeze

January 2015 - Carnival Breeze to Caribbean - Eastern

Second trip on the Breeze better than first time

Now that I am more acquainted with the vessel, it was easier to move around this great vessel.  i was upgraded to a bigger and nicer cabin 3 days before I boarded the vessel, to a Deluxe outside cabin with a bath and a half. Very spacious and well located in the middle on Deck 1.  Quiet and very well maintained by the room steward that took care of me for 8 nights.  The ports we visited were excelled, especially visiting the port of Antigua, which I  haven't visited in a long time and found as pretty as I did when I visited it years ago.The rest of the itinerary was good too, I would have liked more time at Nassau and San Juan, which are favorite ports of mine, but the vessel has to be on the move in order to be able to arrive on time to visit the other ports.

Carnival Freedom

December 2014 - Carnival Freedom to Caribbean - Eastern

Great cruise on the Carnival Freedom

I have been in this vessel before, and the quality of the service, food, entertainment and overall treatment of passengers gets better with each new cruise.  The itinerary is the reason why I selected this cruise since it goes to most of my favorite ports. The only thing that I was not happy about is the cruise director, Wee Jimmy.  Although he is funny as a comedian, his Irish accent is stronger when he is using the loudspeaker to announce information that is important to new cruisers, such as debarkation details and overall information.  In person, he is likeable and friendly but somehow that does not carryover to when he uses the loudspeaker - either his voice is too low and/or speaking rather fast.  Otherwise it was a great cruise.

Carnival Breeze

September 2014 - Carnival Breeze to Caribbean - Eastern

Worth the price paid for this cruise...

This is a beautiful and large vessel which by design allows many passengers on board to enjoy all the venues without feeling crowded and having a good time which you expect when you are on a cruise.  Plenty of variety in entertainment and good food in the various restaurants on board, both the ones included in the cruise price and those that you pay for a more elegant meal.  The crew is friendly and accommodating to the passenger's needs and always addressing you by your name once they have had contact with you from the first time.  I will definitely do another cruise on this vessel.

MSC Divina

August 2014 - MSC Divina to Caribbean - Eastern

MSC is running a Med cruise in the Caribbean without taking into consideration that it is a different type of customer.

Overall service and food is not good.  Food as described on menus is not what you receive.  Either overcooked or undercooked.  Various balcony cruises missing half of glass door enclosure in the shower stall.  Complaints to management did not get them fixed.  Crew either does not speak or understand English, and do not address problems in the restaurants.  If you use a credit card for your onboard charges on the final morning you have to get in a long line to sign your bill, if you are paying cash the line is even longer.  When you get your charge from you bank there is a Service Fee for International transaction because their banking is done overseas. Onboard loading a mess.

All kinds of lines without anyone assisting you in loading operations. The main problem, and I discussed this with a Staff member, is that they have to adjust their operational mentality to the fact that this vessel is operating in the Caribbean where passengers are used to many cruise lines that are knowledgeable at meeting the passengers needs and providing the service that they are accustomed to.

(I have done 81 cruises and know the industry very well.)

Paganson1's Tips

Philipsburg, St. Maarten - A favorite port of mine. The best shopping port in this cruise. Also has nice beaches and great tours.
Basseterre, St. Kitts - Dock area has a few shops but you can walk to town or take a water taxi to get downtown.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Vessel docked in Old San Juan, near Morro and St. Christopher castles. Also near shopping areas, restaurants and other amenities. Sheraton Hotel accross from Dock pier has a great casino.
Bridgetown, Barbados - Again, no activities at Dock area. Need a tour, or a taxi to take you downtown.
Castries, St. Lucia - St Lucis is very pretty. Need to do tours to see the beauty of this place.
Carnival Liberty Carnival Liberty - Most of the tours should be done in the mornings since being summer by Noon is very hot. Bring plenty of water with you and comfortable shoes and make sure you were a hat to protect you from the sun.
Willemstad, Curacao - A favorite port of mine. Great Beaches, good tours, The famous Pontoon Bridge and beautiful architecture. A pleasant place to walk and see all the beauty of this place.
Oranjestad, Aruba - Another favorite port. Great beaches, smaller than Curacao but easy to see, visit and walk around and do some shopping at good prices.
Grand Turk Island - This port is a day at the beach. Also good for water sports activities and Margaritaville.
Carnival Conquest Carnival Conquest - Whenever you do a land excursion, keep in mind that the ship's restaurants do not open early nor they keep long hours during lunch. There will be long lines in the morning and at lunch time if you get back after 2:30 PM very few options available for lunch.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - One of my favorite ports, spent the least time there where there is so much to see.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten - Great port. Take a water taxi from dock area and it will take you in the middle of downtown.
Basseterre, St. Kitts - Small but pretty island. Have to do tours to get out of port area which has limited sites.
Carnival Conquest Carnival Conquest - Once thing that I head other passengers complain about was the opening times of the Buffet and or food service in the morning and also during lunch times. On the days the vessel was at seas, breakfast lines opened at 7:30 am and when vessel was in ports lunch was between 12 Noon and 2:30 PM .
Antigua, West Indies - I am glad that I visited Antigua again. Beautiful Island and a good Casino in the port area.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - On of my favorite ports. Vessel docks in Old San Juan, and because of the limited time in port, great port to walk to at least one of the 2 ports. El Morro is the best and largest. Good place to sample local foods and have a great Mohito.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - Been in St. Thomas many times. Shopping at Port expensive. Go to downtown and have more choices and better prices.
Miami, Florida - Miami is great if you arrive days earlier than the vessel sailing. I have visited the city many times and arrive the same vessel sails.
Nassau, Bahamas - Love Nassau. Like to go to visit Paradise Island and it's great casino. Vessel arrives too early in this port and most stores and services are closed until at least 9 AM, i always take a taxi to the Atlantis Hotel and on he way back take the Water Taxi back to the port.
Carnival Breeze Carnival Breeze - My only complaint is the opening hours for breakfast at the Market Place. Quite often it opened at the time that people who were doing tours at the port had to meet someplace in the vessel prior to arrival and they did not have enough time to enjoy their breakfast or even have one.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Great Port but very little time there to really appreciate the beauty of this Island.
Basseterre, St. Kitts - You have to do a tour in this port, since the only thing available in the port area is a Casino (Great) shops and places to eat and drink. To see the Island you have to leave the port.
Carnival Freedom Carnival Freedom - Go to breakfast early when ship is in port and you want to make your tour time, since too many people will be there trying to eat at the same time.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Could have used more time in port to see what great place is Puerto Rico to visit.
Grand Turk Island - This is a very small island (13 miles X 7) where all activities happen at the port, mainly tour, diving, swiming and the Margaritaville experience.
Miami, Florida - Been in Miami many times. Just check in and check the vessel out.
Carnival Breeze Carnival Breeze - Since a lot of passengers do not get early for breakfast when vessel is not in port, go to breakfast before 10 AM. When vessel is in port lines open early at the Lido (Market) dining room to make sure that you can make your tours.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Always a great place to visit. Vessel docks in Old San Juan and everything is a walking distance.
MSC Divina MSC Divina - At breakfast time in the Buffet Deck go very early to make sure that they have the food of your choice. Anything after 8am not guaranteed all the foods are there, or available.
