Sail date:

We were not first time cruisers, so we had some expectations of how the cruise should go. The embarkation and debarkation processes went very smoothly at every port. The wait staff in the dining room was excellent, but the food was about what I expected. Several people at our table ordered more than one entree at times because the servings were a bit small. For example, I ordered french toast one morning and received one slice of toast. Other servings, particularly of meat, were very large. The evening entertainment was very nice, but the calypso band that played on the pool deck used a drum machine that got a bit tiresome after a while. I also thought the pool was a bit small for a "fun ship."Our room steward was wonderful without being intrusive. We did have a constant problem with our bed. They had placed two twin mattresses together to make one bed and the matresses kept sliding apart every night. Other cruise lines have had velcro between the matresses or a rail that held them together. We finally just had the beds separated to resolve the sliding problem. One of our ports of call was Belize. We took the shore excursion to Altun Ha/River Wallace and were extremely pleased. The guides were excellent and we were able to see some of the real interior of this undeveloped nation. However, some of the other passengers were a bit upset by seeing the living conditions of the natives. To make this a five-star cruise, I would expect lower drink prices, consistent portion sizes in the dining room, better pool facilities, and non-sliding matresses.
