May 2016 - Freedom of the Seas to Caribbean - Eastern
We consider ourselves experienced cruisers, this was our 48th cruise but first with RCCL. We cruise mainly with Princess and Holland America. First of all RCCL is a pretty good product, the ship was very clean and well maintained. Entertainment and activities were outstanding. Embarkation and debarkation were a breeze. I also
enjoyed 3 dollar Blackjack tables in the afternoon on sea days.
What we didn't care for; Price we usually pay for a 7 days cruise was about 150 dollars per person more than what we pay with HAL and Princess. The food was not as good as Princess or Holland America. One night the chicken was just about rubber and the fish is not very good at all. Drinks were about 2 dollars more, we usually pay 7 dollars on the other cruise lines for an Absolute Vodka and Tonic, on RCCL the charge was 9 dollars plus tip. Photos were 3 dollars more. Gratuities were 13.95 a day per person compared to the 12.95 we usually pay. RCCL skimps a little, no chocolate mints on your pillow and no nuts with your drinks in the lounges. Cabin size was also smaller.
We we took this cruise because we wanted to get away for an early summer cruise and our favorite lines pull their ships out of Florida in the summer. Will we cruise agin with RCCL, yes but only if the price is right.
