Carnival Fantasy

Carnival Fantasy

Sail date:

We went on the Fantasy on April 12. We spent 5 days in Orlando visiting theme parks and ended our trip with a 3-day cruise. We knew this ship was an older ship, we knew we only had one port stop in Nassau. We knew the ship would be filled with kids. It was Spring Break out of Port Canaveral. We had 6 adults and 7 kids in our group. I thought Carnival handled the amount of kids well. It seemed that half the passengers were children under 18. They had Camp Carnival for younger kids. And at night, due to the amount of teenagers, they designated a night club for teens (with security and Carnival staff). I don't know if this is something that they usually due, but our teenagers loved it. They spent their evening in there while we were in the Casino. (You can't do that on Disney)Our dinners were great with the wait staff tending to our children's needs. Food & service at the Lido deck was adequate. The ships entertainment was very good and the passanger talent show for kids and adults were both entertaining. The comedy acts were fair to good. Our cabin steward was very good. The traditional towel animals in the evening were fun. I thought the general appearance of the ship was good. Most open areas were kept clean and the Century Boulevard was beautiful. There was a complaint about an odor on the ship, but fortunately, it did not reach us.Now,for my complaint. We spent $180 for the excursion to Blue Lagoon Island, which would have been perfect if it hadn't been so difficult getting there. We were told to meet in the lounge at 11:45am. We sat for about an hour before 700 people stood up at the same time to leave and travel down several levels of steps to walk out on the pier. There were so many people that we had to wait for the second boat to the island. By the time we reached the island it was close to 2pm and we had to leave at 4:30. Blue Lagoon itself is a great excursion especially for children, but time wasted is money wasted.I went on Carnival's Paradise, last year, which is a non-smoking ship and a fantastic idea! This cruise was not as good, but I feel like I got exactly what I wanted for my family, for the price I paid.
