Island Princess

April 2017 - 21 Night Panama Canal Grand Adventure (Ft. Lauderdale To Vancouver) Cruise on Island Princess

Enchantment of the Seas

November 2015 - 3 Night Bahamas (Port Canaveral Roundtrip) Cruise on Enchantment of the Seas

Royal Caribbian Highly Over Rated

Because this cruise was the day after Thanksgiving we expected A full ship with lots of Kids, in fact tis was a Birthday present for our Daughter-in-Law and 2 of our Grandchildren ages 6 and 9. MY wife and I have been on 3 other cruises, the last one being in May on Princess Cruise Lines, and the quality of service and entertainment was the difference between night and day,  The embarkation was smooth and efficient, but once on board the ship it all started to change rapidly, The Windjammer Restaurant was expectedly crowded, but the buffet layout required the staff to cut through the lines to restock the hot foods, most of which was overcooked and the quality was just a tad bit over what you would find at a Golden Coral, not what you would expect on a Cruise ship.  The required safety exercise was disorganized and  for a first time cruiser was very uninformative.  The customer Service desk attendants acted as they didn't want to be bothered and were very curt.

The first evening we went to the featured show, the band and dancers were good, The MC, Topi, is also the Cruise Director, who thinks he should be the star of the show. The show was suppose to be family oriented, and the Juggler was, however the comedian was definitely for a mature audience only, and as we were sitting in the back of the theatre we saw at least 30 people get up and leave as his theme was about adult men p*****. and as I said earlier the ship had l0ts of young kids on board.

The good point was our cabin attendant was great,

We Did not get to Coco Cay, due to high winds, and the activities on board were poorly organized such as contest for 4 to 9 contestants being the show for everyone else. Our dining in the Dining room was a disaster, The service was good, but my wife had the Eggplant Parmesan, which was tastles, our grand children had Mac and Cheese which had 1/4" of water in the bottom of the dish, it appeared it was a frozen entre. but again the serve was good. The debarkation took over 3 hours and again very disorganized.

Island Princess

May 2015 - 12 Night Grand Mediterranean (Venice To Barcelona) Cruise on Island Princess

Jerphil's Tips

Funchal, Madeira - I had no idea that this port would be so fastinating, We used Carlos with Tours by Locals and visited the Cable Cars, Basket Sled, waterfalls, volcanic pools and more
Gibraltar (U.K.) - The only day it rained but still went to the top of the Rock, St. Michaels cave and saw the apes, a Great day
Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands - We did a bus tour that took us to a small mountaain town and visited a monestary. The countryside was beautiful with a combinnation of Olive and Almound groves.
Barcelona, Spain - One of our most favorite cities did alot of shopping, and the hop on hop off bus for 2 days, One thing you must do if visiting Barcelona is go to the top of the Columbus Statue, the views are fantastic.
Cartagena, Spain - We didthis port on our own, the city was having a marathoon and we followed the coursed Which took us through the most interesting parts of the city, we visited 2 churches that were preparing for a wedding, the Roman Theatre and walls plus a much more , The mos interesting part of this visit was we were in Cartagena Columbia just 1 year ago.
Astoria, Oregon - May 8, 2017 is a day we will never forget, we were on the Island Princess, 80+ nautical miles off the coast of Astoria in hurricane force winds of over 78mph with gusts over 100mph was like being on a giant roller coaster
Ft. Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida - We had purchased a Bon Voyage Experience for our daughter, which included early boarding, Island Princess had a representative in the terminal to meet us. The people at the door, the queues all acted as if they had no idea and constantly tried to send us to longer lines, The port staff is ineffecien
Nassau, Bahamas - I would suggest using a Taxi to get around, and walking Bay Street. If you have kids do not to miss the Pirate Museum
