Before went with NCL spirit, we had been with Royal Caribbean twice(both to Caribbean). So we had idea what to expect on a cruise trip. But this trip was a big disappointment. Especially, the food is horribble, everyday same stuff and nothing good, even breads, I don't know how some reviewers wrote that the food was great, maybe they just try to be nice? nothing is better than the food bar/bakery in any supermarket. Think about this fact, 95% crews are from philippine, do you expect to eat Franch or Italian bread? My pre-teen kids always had problem to find something to eat. With Royal Caribbean ships, our problem was too much good food to eat. But this ship would keep us hungry if we didn't pay extra money to eat at speciality restaurnats. Besides food, the ship is boring and poor decorated, and everything looks cheaper comparing with Royal Caribbean ships. The service is ok, not great, but they automaticlly charged high rate tips from your account. By talking to some crews, we know that a waiter who has to work 6 days a week and 12 hours a day, only makes $700 a month(they don't follow US laws). How do you expect them to have patient all the time? It's definitly not a upscale ship but everything is expensive on borad. So if you want to take cruise trips, NEVER go with NCL. What I said here is the truth and I heard too many people were complaining there.
