December 2016 - 5 Night Western Caribbean (Miami Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Sensation
My boyfriend and I booked this cruise for my birthday. This wasn't my 1st cruise, I've had better but still enjoyed my vacation. We had an ocean view m-211 I believe, room was nice and clean, the bathrooms exhaust fan was very loud though. Our room steward called someone to fix it immediately but I couldn't tell the difference. The ship is older, the layout is kinda weird, I never figured it out the entire cruise lol. The spa was really nice, the staff was very friendly and upbeat. Carnival gifted me a picture of my choice and a spa gift card for my birthday. The highlight of my cruise would have to be the dining room. Not because of the food, I cruised in august on the Triumph and they had the same menus but the food was much tastier on that ship. The dining staff was the reason I kept coming back, Elena, Wardika and Valentin were so animated and personable. They made it a memorable experience despite the rocky seas we encountered. They even gave us fun facts about their home countries and places we must visit when we travel there. The comedy shows were hilarious, comedian Azeem was very original and kept the crowd going. Cayman islands were absolutely beautiful, we had to Tender in and the process wasn't too long. We did stingray city and the public beach. Jamaica was beautiful as well, just wish we had more time at that port. The street vendors can be very pushy but friendly, we went to a private beach we found on one of the signs at the port, it was beautiful. We went to the art auction for the free champaign lol, I enjoyed the Hasbro show and I got to participate and won a monopoly card game. Lido deck was full of families, I preferred the serenity deck where I spent most of my time outside of my cabin. The Mongolian wok was tasty, I ate veggie burgers from the grill, they were ok no complaints and the pizza was AWESOME! I didn't actually eat anything but the seafood fritters from the lido buffet and they were my favorite thing ever. I enjoyed the motown trivia, I just wished they could've held it elsewhere, the smoke from the casino really bothered me, I tried to avoid that part of the ship entirely because of it. Overall we enjoyed ourselves, I think I will try to sail on the newer class ships from now on though. I would recommend this for anyone looking for an affordable getaway.
