June 2017 - 7 Night Western Caribbean (New Orleans Roundtrip) Cruise on Carnival Dream

Carnival Dream 6/18-25/17

This was our first cruise out of New Orleans, and I have to say, from the start, it was excellent. NOLA has one of the best parking and embarkation setups we've seen. Drive up, drop off luggage, park, walk in the terminal. The terminal was on par with Port Canaveral, but much better than Galveston.

Upon arrival on the Dream, we headed to the Lido for a drink and lunch. Guy's Burger is good (4 out of 5), and the Lido lunch was good too.

From there, we met our room steward, who was very pleasant. He had us select the "Morning/Evening/Both" selection for service (we went with Both, as there are 3 of us in the cabin). He had no issues shown with that. Devon was very friendly, and always had a wave & a smile.

The CD and entertainment staff were outstanding. Mat and company had the typical stuff going on, but they were always upbeat and entertaining.

The MDR has done away with tablecloths on most nights, but the food is the same (4.5 out of 5).
Overall, this is one of the better Carnival Cruises we've been on (MUCH better than the Triumph), up there with the Magic and Sunshine. We will definitely look at booking out of NOLA again in the future.
