GingyBones's Tips

Roseau, Dominica - Volcanic island...black sand beach. Did the Emerald Pool excursion through Carnival. The locals told us about a celebration they have every year for the whole island.
Oranjestad, Aruba - Most beautiful white sand beaches. Did a carnival excursion for all inclusive beach day. Loved it, and would do this again. People were friendly and good shopping.
St. John's, Antigua - Best beach day. Took public bus to turner beach. Cost us about a buck fifty. Beautiful beach, chair rental six bucks. Took taxi back in. Would love to do this again.
St. George's, Grenada - Took a taxi to beach close by and it was a decent beach. Bough drinks from bar on beach. They also had great food at bar. On the way back we took a water taxi.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten - We did Harley in Paradise excursion through Carnival. Favorite port by far. The kind of place you would not mind staying for a week... Beautiful island!
Philipsburg, St. Maarten - We did Harley in Paradise excursion through Carnival. Favorite port by far. The kind of place you would not mind staying for a week... Beautiful island!
Basseterre, St. Kitts - Did swim with dolphins. Cristian was trainer and dolphin was Gaya. Enjoyed excursion and still had time for almost anything. Shopped around and got back on ship early to relax before dinner.
San Juan, Puerto Rico - Love this port. We usually walk around and shop. Sometimes we walk to nearby beach Peña. Love that they have drug stores CVS for any needs you may have.
Bridgetown, Barbados - Did turtle and beach excursion through Carnival. The excursion crew was great. There is only 1 turtle, which is good and all, but the excursion pictures make it seem like you will swim with turtles not turtle. You also get to snorkle over 2 ship wrecks. If you wanted to spend time on beach you had to swim to it from boat. Not exactly what was expected, but made the most of it. Would not do again now that I know all details.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas - Parasailed for first time ever. Loved it! Went to magen beach on taxi and had a great day. We met another couple on parasail and they joined us on beach.
Port Canaveral, Florida - Exiting was smooth and quick. There was a long line for the shuttle we chose, but they got another shuttle in shortly. Last shuttle to airport leaves at 10am, so try to get return flight about noon or you will have to wait longer at airport.
George Town, Grand Cayman - Fun and pretty place. We did an excursion and had enough time to shop for souvenirs afterwards. Our excursion was snuba. It was a little hard for me to go under.
Montego Bay, Jamaica - Was not too impressed by this port. Taxi driver scared you by the way he drives. He drove us to the most expensive souvenirs...we should have done excursion.
Nassau, Bahamas - Tour guides can show you around better than you would have enough time to do yourself. I would much have preferred to book an excursion if we went again.
Freeport, Grand Bahama Island - Book excursion if you want to make the most of this port. All you can do is walk around. We were not too impressed by just walking around...all we did was buy a few souvenirs.
Key West, Florida - All American city...bought souvenirs and got back on ship. It rained that day. Great place for shopping. I bought my favorite pair of Sperry hiking shoes there.
Progreso (Merida), Mexico - We buy all inclusive for $40 and it is good as long as you don't go to the nearby beach. At the nearby beach all day the try to sell you stuff and you don't really relax as much.
Mahogany Bay, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras - We did the BOSS adventure...underwater scooter and snorkeling. You can ask driver to order you some of their chicken and rice at an additional cost to eat on your way back to ship...yum.
Belize City, Belize - We did cave tubing and zip excursion. We almost got left, because we stopped to get a t-shirt on our walk from bus to boat that takes you to ship. So...don't stop...hurry to boat.
Cozumel, Mexico - Our favorite island. We always go on our own. We rent a moped for around $20-$30...right across the street. We ride to the ruins and hang out at any beach resort and buy drinks and/or snacks.
Galveston, Texas - Galveston is a nice island. I prefer this port for my convenience. The newish boardwalk is cute. Had lunch at Bubba Gump before boarding...within a mile of port.
